probably not the only thing dropped after this test ;)
True, Handscomb a good chance to play in the forth test. Khawaja needs a spell.

Who would you drop, Khawaja with a series average of 20.8 but a test average of 44 or Shaun Marsh with a series average of 24.8 and a test average of 39?

Paine looks like he's struggling with a finger - grimacing after taking some of Starc's balls and the 4 byes.

Does the Care-Bear need to pack a suitcase??
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It's a good question and one that I was thinking about. Still would drop Khawaja before Marsh, with the former struggling more with form at the moment.

The second innings might decide the issue as to who if anyone will get dropped. A good innings by either of the players would save their spot, another failure (and a test loss) may well see Handscomb back in the team.

Smith and his dickhead vice captain. Never again can Australia claim the high moral ground on ball tampering, we're as much cheats as any of them. Again if Smith had a sound head as his 2IC this may well not have happened, he however has Warner. How he thought this was a good idea is deadset flabbergasting and not the actions of someone you want as a Test captain. Fuc****s.

Spot on, how stupid can you be.
If Smith said in the presser “we’ll move on from this” one more time, I’d have thrown up.
Smith has to be sacked as captain, as does Warner of vice captain.

I have always felt Smith was harshly dealt with by Aussies who seemed ready to knife him far too easily. Today I walk away from him. He is clearly not ableader of men and should be sent home along with Bancroft who will cop a suspension. And now it puts into perrspective his head shaking every time hes dismissed and the use of referrals when hes plumb. It also sheds light on his looking into the dressing room after being given out in India. The guy is a modern day WG Grace.
The ONLY saving grace is he fronted a presser and accepted responsibility...unlike dePlessis who holds similar undesirable traits as Smith but has never accepted fault for his or any od his team mates misdemeanours.

Ive always been really impressed with Payne, he's well respected & would make a good leader of this troop.

The best player isn't always the best choice as skipper.

How prophetic.... Paine has been a revelation this summer. Yesterday I wouldnt have thought this waa necessary... now this changes everything. Smith xannot carry on. Integrity is vital for a leader... and cannot be restored overnight. Smith would u have apologised if this had not been brought to light? So... how often have you been guilty of other forms of cheating? Your answer doesnt matter because you have no integrity and I dont believe you.

Sad day... beaten on the field by an arrogant nation and self destruction within.

Over to the footy pages now.

Grenville and northerner - agree fully, great posts.

Apart from minor skirmishes that happen in ever sport, Australia, and by extension us, have always felt we could hold ourselves above the next layer down of things like this and match-fixing. Not any more, especially being a premeditated plan.

If he was any kind of a man he would stand down ASAP.
We all know that wouldn’t happened.

Smith and Bancroft both must be suspended and sent home.

Just seen the vision and parts of the presser. What an absolute disgrace. Australian cricket has hit a new all time low. CA must act, suspend and fine all involved. I’d rather see a second XI play the next game than a team of cheats!

Yep it's a bit hard to believe Smith's remorse, he's sorry he got caught. Bancroft fu***d up big time and will cop his licks but he has been badly, badly let down by incompetent and crooked leadership.
