I thought the sanctimonious bullshit may have died down by now. Atherton, Tendulkar, Broad, Anderson, Afridi, Du Plessis, Philander etc etc have all been in the spotlight for ball tampering, but I can't ever recall their being such a tidal wave of faux outrage and virtue signalling. Yes, Bancroft and Smith should cop their whack from the ICC with a fine etc, but calling for them to have their careers ended is ridiculous*.

I think people are just upset that our moral high ground has been eroded and we now look no better than the South Africans, English, Pakistanis etc. Well, perhaps it's a great chance for this Australian side to just let their cricket do the talking from now on.

*there should certainly be a review of the leadership structure and team culture. A team (sport, workplace etc) under good leadership empowers even the most junior person to have voice and the confidence to question. If this kind of culture existed in our national side there's no way this would have happened, because someone would have felt empowered enough to quell any notion of ball tampering.

Smith just needs to hire Rabada’s lawyer and he should be free to play the next test

24 month ban for all that knew about the ball tampering BS, all forms of cricket.
If Boof knew then that's it for him, must be dismissed from Aust cricket, sad but true.
Real shame, was starting to enjoy Bancrofts tough attitude.
WTF were they thinking ?

I can't believe they are still playing today, should have been suspended and put on the first flight home, even if it means batting with 8 for the rest of the test. In any other workplace this would be the scenario.

IMO a 12 month suspension, pull them from the IPL and let them play shield cricket only next summer.

And you would be very naive if you think Boof isn't involved.

Smith fined 100% of his match fee, receives 4 demerit points, and banned for 1 Test.

Bancroft fined 75% of his match fee and cops 3 demerit points.

Will be interested to see if Cricket Australia hands down further punishments

The Australian public will see this as a grossly light penalty

Sutherland has already said they will hand out firmer penalties.
Would think Smith will lose his captaincy permanently and all involved will cop a 3-6 month ban
