Playing devils advocate, the difference being you are going for a spoil or a mark. In Gray and Douglas cases, both went for the bump. Their only intention.

Wasn't talking about going for a spoil or a mark, just a loose ball.

If there was no head contact (and I’m not sure either way) there should be no suspension, plenty of bumps during the game when players aren’t going for the ball. How many shepherds are there with a bump?

There's your difference.
Going for a loose ball vs going for the opponents body.

I agree with you, but the AFL (understandably) is so anti-concussion these days, that even a legal bump or tackle looks like it will get a player penalised if it results in a player being concussed.

I thought it looked a great bump by Douglas, but would be very surprised if the suspension was over-turned.

No difference when the guy who gets kicked in the head is the only one going for the ball.
The one not going for the ball gets a free.

There was. Only one camera angle got it clearly enough for Christian to ping him. It was there though.

Does anyone know if Charlie Dixon was reported for his late bump on the Freo player who had just kicked the ball?
IMHO that seemed a late bump, head high, and he was obviously not going for the ball.
Seemed more of a reportable offence that Douglas' or Gray's bumps.

I don't believe so.

I think Christian intends to announce all suspensions within 24 hours of the match being played so I doubt he'll get sighted now.

Fair enough too, hardly got him and the bloke bounced back up.

Booney hit the beers harder than Dixon hit that bloke.

Looking at the slow mo, the blood from his mouth comes from Douglas' hand on the other arm to the one that bumped him making contact with his mouth.

Head contact from sliding/hitting the top of Zach's shoulder and then into the head. Week will stand
