Interesting view put forward by Border during the telecast, tonight.

Paine permanent skipper, gloves are off, bats higher, Carey in....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Really, i missed that but if Paine is in the best 6 batsman in the country we are truly stuffed.
Take a punt and give Renshaw the capataincy
Agreed we need to egt Carey in the team but at the expense of Paine unless they are picking Carey as a batsman which hes probably not up to either

Anyone else watch Haysman spend the lunch break interviewing Michael Holding?

Truly special stuff.

Probably not too many others in Australia that have the experience to lead the team apart from perhaps George Bailey.

Paine has been one of only two shining lights on this tour, the other being Pat Cummins

I reckon they try and get 2 years out of Tim Paine as both keeper and captain, and then Carey should be primed to take over in all three formats, and they can let Renshaw, Mitch Marsh (if he keeps his spot), or (shall i say it?) Steve Smith captain

Paine cannot be in our best top 6 bats

I like the bloke and think he could make a good leader but you don't average 30 at shield level in over 170 innings with only the 1 hundred because of bad luck

really been thrown under the bus here tbh. Thrust into a no-win situation on a road, zero chance to work into his career. Sadly reckon you could be right

Agreed. Hasn’t played a first class game since December. Was in very good form and not given a go. Gets a go after the Test team implodes

Therein lies the flaw in the scheduling of the Australian domestic season......

BBL might be a money spinner but it is ******* up the careers of players who excel in other forms of the game!

We just got bowled out for 220 so can hardly play the road card, that's the difference in quality between the two sides.

I would love to see Sayers make it but personally I can't see him being much more than serviceable at best at test level

Imo his shield figures are slightly inflated in that we are by the far the worse players of swing in the world. Throw in the quality of the shield batting at the moment (arguable all time low) and the shield is perfect for him.

Like a lot of swing bowlers they lack a plan B and are more reliant on external conditions than any other role in cricket (we have seen this a lot through Jimmy Anderson career and he is the best in the business)

If Sayers gets a regular gig he may have some good moments but will be a 32-35 average bowler at test level.

I hope he goes and takes a 5fa now

**** me when did someone bowling 120km/hr pies become the pinnacle of ustralian bowling? If it was Hastings you blokes would be all over him. Hes ******* average at best, a couple tests in england is the besthe can hope for, hes no Alderman but
Take your one eyed redbacks glasses off, dud at this level

I said he in my opinion bowled better than his figures reflected, would not be a walk up start and in the right conditions could be damaging. Maybe put your fu***g reading glasses on.
