Cripps & Curnow are the only Carlton players that hold any currency, Murphy looks cooked.

Reckon Casboult would get a gig elsewhere and of course Docherty, but not much else.

What they wouldn't give for Gibbs, Jacobs, Betts, Garland, Waite

Holding Thomas but letting Gibbs go...seriously

Not much on their injury list either

Casboult shopped himself around and had zero interested parties so went back to Carlton with his tail between his legs and took a reduced offer.

* Attendance 52,668

MCG normally get their estimates close and they have predicted 68k tonight

That would be heavily dependent on Collingwood supporters turning up....I'm not as convinced as the MCG on this one.

I do hope they turn up though to help with the atmosphere.

Just under 69k.
As I said the MCG usually gets their predictions close to the mark

Yeah right, I thought Carlton matched the offer. Games changed so much, seems like not long ago he and Menzel would have had a few suitors

Now now.....

I feel the same but... my 8 yo reminds me that we have to stick with the boys.

We were terrible again tonight but you look at our mids:

Murphy - slow and needs outside runners/finishers to be effective
Petrovski-Seton - skinny, undersized, needs to be the outside mid receiving and delivering the footy, not inside against the big bodies
Kennedy - will only get better with being around our ordinary mids but we need him in and under to deliver to the runners
Cripps - great but also needs outside delivery options on the outside
Curnow - negating midfielder. Again, not quick.
Fisher - see Petrovski-Seton

The outside mid that we lack is the guy we gave away (Gibbs). Of course, remembering that we would've had Docherty in the midfield this season before he got injured.

All in all, we're very 'samey' in the midfield, to our detriment. We will get burnt big time because of that, which means our backline will get pumped.

I really can't see us winning more than 4 games this season.

Mind you it hurt the league last year when we weren't on Friday nights with our crowds!!!!!

An exert from Tom Rockliffs column this morning.

" I remain mates with my former teammates and the Lions coaching, support and medical staff.

After the team arrived in town from Brisbane on Friday afternoon, the plan was to have dinner with Lewy Taylor, Dayne Zorko, Darcy Gardiner, Rohan Bewick and Ryan Lester, who I am pretty tight with."

Surely not before a game?

We need 2-3 quality mature recruits to assist and grow the younger players.
Murphy, Kruezer and Simpson whilst good players, they’re not good leaders.

We need to throw everything at Sloane, Tom Lynch x 2, Ollie Wines plus any quality FA out there.

We won’t go anywhere until we do.

Wines and the Younger less red head of the Lynchs should be on your shopping list. Also not all is lost, the kids look alright just undersized at the moment. You badly miss Docherty and Gibbs at the moment.

Beams an out for Brisbane.

Listening to Hinkley on the radio, Rockliff to start in the middle, Westhoff in ruck and Dixon in the square.

Port look as though they thought they only had to rock up to win. Lions taking it to them early, not sure it will last long though

How come it’s not on TV?
Couldn’t channel 7 fit it on one of their 4 stations?
