Jennifer Lawrence was good in it but the plot was very convoluted and the character's motivations for doing things wasnt super clear most of the time

Anyone seen Ready Player One yet?

Particularly keen to hear thoughts of anyone who's also read the book.

Good Movies

I thought it was better than the average super hero movie but at the same time felt it was too much following the standard formula including the typical boss battle at the end. I thought that character turning into an evil god warrior in armour and a horned helmet was a bit silly.

That said, I enjoyed the WW1 setting and I though the actor was perfect for the lead role and did a great job.

A Quiet Place

Probably the best movie I've seen in at least two years.

It's not the typical scary movie. The tension has your heart going from start to finish.

The story is good, and the characters are well played.

Its also a bit different being in a cinema where there is no sound for a long period. I felt self conscious crunching on popcorn, so had to time it to the rare loud moments in the movie.

I'd say 9.5/10 (and it takes a lot for me to like a movie)

Skyfall on nine tonight. Best Bond movie by far.
Love all the scenes around central London.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

I went and saw it this evening. A very eerie film due to the lack of sound. A few stupid bits (like the nail in the stair plank) and plenty of exposition with the strategically placed newpapers made me laugh but overall a well made film with some heart stopping moments. Wish it didn't end so abruptly. I don't want to spoil anything, for me it sort of came across as a combination of Stranger Things and The Last of Us Playstation game.

I recently watched the following to relieve the tedium suffered on long haul international flights:

I, Tonya. Nothing short of excellent; puts a real human face on the protagonists. Alison Janney perfect as Tonya's mother.

Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami (documentary) No narration, just a camera crew following Grace Jones around in USA, Jamaica and Europe at various times over the last decade or so. Interesting glimpse into her world; good for fans.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Very well done. Essentially an entry in the "body swap" genre of movies (think Freaky Friday, Big, and so forth). Jack Black is hilarious as the woman trapped in a man's body.

The Shape Of Water. Atmospheric and engrossing, really draws you in - but it got a bit silly in the final act.

Had no interest in watching Jumanji, but took one for the team and put it on for the family recently - Have to admit it was much more entertaining than I thought it would be.

Watched I, Tonya tonight.
Not sure what I was expecting to be honest in regards to the style of production.
But I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Come Sunday

Based on a Bishops struggle in America of the hypocrisy of the bible and being an outcast for speaking his mind and highlighting those points.

The Most Hated Woman in America
Based on Mad Madelyn Ohair and her American Atheist group. I didnt like the jumping back and forward in this. Feel it may have been better if it went from her beginnings onward. In spite of that a very fascinating movie of a person/organisation I didn't know a great deal about. But it seemed like a good movie for 11pm on saturday night!
