CA Contracts 2018-2019

Postby PatowalongaPirate » Wed Apr 11, 2018 12:10 pm

Chadd misses out, no room for Zampa either.

2018-19 CA men's contracts: Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Aaron Finch, Peter Handscomb, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Glenn Maxwell, Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh, Tim Paine, Matthew Renshaw, Jhye Richardson, Kane Richardson, Billy Stanlake, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Andrew Tye.

However Paine is unlikely to be gloveman in all three formats with rising star Alex Carey included on the national contract list for the first time.

Carey is joined by bowlers Jhye Richardson, Kane Richardson, Andrew Tye and allrounder Marcus Stoinis as new faces on the full-year list.

There are six Western Australians on the list, with four from New South Wales to signal a shift in the powerbase of Australian cricket. Queensland, South Australia and Victoria each have three representatives, while Test captain Paine is the sole Tasmanian on the list.

What does a CA contract mean?
It's by no means like an AFL list.

Means 2 things......they are paid 'outside' the State salary cap by the National organization and secondly the selectors think these guys will be in contention to be selected for national duties for the next 12 months.

It looks likely that it is all set up for Langer to take over as Australian coach. How else can anyone explain 6 WA players in the 20 contracted (and it would have been 7 except for Bancroft's misdemeanour) given that they haven't won a Sheffield Shield in 20 years.

That just goes to show they were wanting Chadd to fail in South Africa.

No fringe test only player would get a contract. Hardly surprising.

You mean like Renshaw ;)

IMO there was no hoping Chad would fail by CA, his performed to the best of his abilities but it showed where he's at in the test performance continuum.

The Chadd is in a pretty exclusive club, not many players around the world have more test wickets than runs scored.
