Yesterday was probably Jack Watts 101. 13 touches, 4 marks, 3 goals, 4 shit efforts.

Port are at least transparent, you can tell in the first 5 mins if they are off the boil just looking at their desire for the contest.

Irony of Ken saying no back up ruckmen are ready to play AFL, getting rid of Lobbe/Trengove cause they held up to much $ in the cap to land Rockliff who ain't performing.

Rockliff on around $700k per year, so too was Trengove. No irony at all as we rightly didn't see a spot for Trengove in the back half and why pay him $700k to play SANFL just in case?

Hindsight might have him with us still but nobody has that at the time.

More disappointed that Frampton hasn't made it impossible for Hinkley to not pick him, that's where the problem lies. In his third year on the list, 200cm, 97 kg, make it that Hinkley has to pick you....

Yeah I was impressed with the bits I saw of him last year, obviously hasn't done anything this year to date though.

I can't believe Trengove was on $700k.

Am I right in saying that Port are still paying a portion of his contract this year also?

Lobbe yes, Trengove no. Trengove's deal had come to an end thus the free agent move.

And won't be next year with some space still left in the cap, thus we will be in the market for another recruit at the end of 2018 along with 5 picks in the first 3 rounds.

Surely Wines will take a fair bit of that cap space. He has earnt a huge pay rise and could easily get $800k plus

Boak's deal expires at the end of next year, you'd think that would be down on his last few years, so too does Ryder and Gray's, I doubt they'd be getting pay rises post-30 so while Wines will take a fair bit more a few big name deals would probably go down a little.

I thought Howard was pretty good in the ruck yesterday. Interestingly watching FootySA on Sunday, Stephen Rowe said he watched Frampton at SANFL level and said straight up he's not ready for AFL yet.

Was difficult watching Port yesterday, thought they appeared to lack urgency and control with ball in hand. Silly ball handling errors, and at times telegraphed ball movement created turn over after turn over.

I thought DBJ was pretty average, McKenzie was in and out of the game - used the ball ok, but did stuff all, and didn't create any line breaking runs or kicks - he's got a weapon for a kick, would've liked to see it used more instead of a short 20m chip.

Motlop and Rockliff were yuck, but thought Marshall was good - they missed him in the last quarter.

Jack Watts can use the ball, but geez he looks stoned at times - if Port can get Dixon forward all game, think i'd prefer to see Watts as the 2nd tall deep forward, and move Marshall to CHF.

Personally I thought Essendon led Port to the ball more often than not, were willing to put their head over it - but more importantly, more often than not, played in front, and were able to take mark with general ease.

Would be lovely if Polec could kick on his right too.

Port were lucky not to lose by 10 goals, scoreline flatters the performance.

Worst. Troll. Ever.

You do realise you could have had Menzel for less than half of what you're paying Motlop.
Yeah, shocking troll.

Sunday aside Motlop has been good this year, plays a different role to Menzel who's only kicking goals because that giant Man-Baby Hawkins can't get near it.

Fair call, you cant compare a small goal kicking forward to another small goal kicking forward. Cant disagree with that especially when one was half the price if not less than the other.
Port had such an amazing opportunity and stuffed it, could cost them a flag.

Pretty sure Motlop your best player in last years semi final loss to the Crows gave plenty of drive off half back and through the wing, can't say I've ever seen Menzel move outside the Goal Attack position so again different type of player

You should be thankful anyway, you're paying him waterboy rates which allowed you to pick up a 35 year old with hammies held together by scar tissue

We beat Sydney in the semis and Dangefield was our best.
When we lost to the Crows in a Prelim Selwood was best.
Shaun Burgoyne is the only player who I can think of that is 35 and I'm sure Port supporters wouldn't want to talk about him!
I have no idea why you would think I'm a Hawthorn fan.
You're not getting anything right!
