Port people were incredibly respectful during the ode and minutes silence. You know, the stuff that matters.

The violence is an issue, though. We have a problem that needs addressing. We're no orphans in that regard but we need to step up to the plate and own it.

Booing after a lost is just bad sportsmanship.
I wouldn’t boo anytime but each to their own.

Not the end of the world and I’m sure Selwood doesn’t care.

Ohhh Boon dawg I could not agree any more.

The only thing ANZAC day and football should have in common is that football is not played on ANZAC day - always amazed me that Good Friday was seen as more important. The ode and silence should be much more sacrosanct than to be blurted out before sport and then butchered by the Worst national anthem on the globe. As a Kiwi, I get pretty pissed when NZs contribution and sacrifice is continually glazed over, too.

Worse still, is the commercialisation of the main day's game. It's turned into a god damn Broadway stage show for people to buy tickets at.

I've never booed anything in my life but the way some pundits are carrying on its like we dug up Simpsons Donkey and shoved a teal scarfe up it's arse.

I thought Port supporters punching on was normal. Why is everyone acting surprised?

Yep, I don't get it, it's so childish.

I heard Paddy get boo'd early in the game when he went near it, pretty pathetic to boo the champions of our game, like Selwood & Paddy or not, they make our game better.

For me showing any recognition and awareness of both our Countries And militaries sacrifices is a good thing and if it’s spread across numerous days then there is absolutely no harm in that.

The AFL should be and is proud of what they have done over the last 23 years for their part in raising far more awareness for ANZAC Day than what had happened prior.

I’m glad that the analogy some people used when comparing a game of footy and going to war has stopped . That was a disgrace.

Every time I watch Port play I think why do we have these great forwards and do nothing with them.

The opposition move the ball into their forward line and we all run back to clog it all up and then there's a turnover so we all run forward hoping the ball goes over the top and we run on to it. Sure, it might work for a few rounds until the niggles start setting in or for the first quarter and a half of a game but it's been proven that it can't be maintained for a full season.

Get big Chuck up near the goal front, have Robbie or Chad around his feet and go froward with some purpose, not sure how many times we see a forward thrust only to hit a wall and go sideways or backwards to dispose of the ball with any chance of efficiency.

Player for player Port are as good as or around the mark with most teams, perhaps they should try and expose this and have each player try and win their position, I get exhausted watching their game plan, it forces me to drink.

Move the whole round to ANZAC Day and have it so no one has to leave their own state.

I like it, but would never happen as the AFL cant maximise their $$ for TV.

Two games starting at midday and then work it out from there, could still televise each game on the two fox channels.

You are right though, the dollar is more important to the AFL.

We’ve broken down forward of centre, or, we’ve been broken down by opposition coaches. It’s difficult to pin point the exact cause of our forward line form of the last few weeks, some of it is to do with the way the ball is being delivered, some of it is due to the space the forwards are being allowed to use by opposition defensive units and some of it is the form of our forwards. As such there's not much good news to report upon.

52 inside 50’s for 7 goals on a perfect night for footy, simply not good enough. If you have access to the AFL’s app, check out the heat maps for our main forwards in Dixon, Wingard, Sammy Gray, Motlop and Watts. All of them on Saturday night have their “hot spots” ( where they generated most of their possessions ) well outside the centre corridor, our runway as they like to call it.

Currently we’re being driven wider and wider with our entry forward. Go one step further and the hot spots of Robbie Gray, Wines and Polec, our main ball winners in recent weeks, are also wide out on the wings. We’re being forced wide early in our transition, our forwards are being drawn wide and opposition defences don’t get opened up. Instead they get time to slide across in numbers and foil the attack.

Whilst we sorely miss Ryder’s ruck work we’re not getting beaten up in stoppages, we won the clearances 49-43 on the weekend, we’re getting burnt by our second and third possessions either being faulty under pressure or we move the ball too far sideways out of the contest and we give our forwards no room to work with in the middle. It’s problematic that we’ve seen the opposition do this to use two of the last three weeks.

Not much good came out of Saturday night, especially when looking at our best players as it was the same few doing the same things. Robbie Gray has been sensational the last two weeks in losing sides, 20 clearances in two weeks to go with 70 possessions. Clearly our best. Wines with 29, 5 tackles, 6 clearances again leading the way. Ebert with 24 touches, 14 mighty tackles again in our best along with Westhoff and Polec who had moments where they got us going and Hartlett showed true fighting spirit to come back from his massive knock and continue his solid early season form. Sounds like our last two weeks.

Few blokes under some real pressure, Dan Houston looks a little lost not playing the sweeper role that Bonner has taken control of. I’ll be in touch with some Melbourne supporters to see how they deal with Watts’ lack of urgency and awareness, Amon had an opportunity in the absence of Pittard and Rockliff to cement a spot on the outside but has failed to do so and the inclusions of Neade and Thomas might be short lived. Probably won’t see Thomas for a while anyway. Nothing has changed with him and my views on his recruitment won’t be mentioned in this family forum.

Boons best – R.Gray, Wines, Westhoff, Ebert, Hartlett.

They said they did watch him when Geelong had the ball and his man continually ran off him, not doing stuff that doesn't require the footy.

I{m not sure how accurate the report was that I read, but it pretty much said the AFL want to sanction SPP for 2 or 3 games (retrospectively) despite the lack of evidence and the lad doesn't want to sign off on it, because he doesn't agree with version of events. Good on him, hope he sticks to his guns and doesn't sign anything unless it matches what he believes took place.

On the flip side the alleged victim isn't prepared, reportedly, to take the matter further.
