I guess this week we will see where teams are if we haven't already.

Kenilworth's win against Pulteney at Morgan Oval has set the cat amongst the pigeons, Lockleys appear to be the pace setters although they have had two relatively close matches, Woody South appear to be another solid contender.

Hectorville are proving to be better than first thought and offering a challenge, Smithfield's 36% goal conversion rate will need to be addressed if they are to knock off some of the big guns, they generally have a great record against Pulteney at home.

Blackfriars and the Dolphins are about where we all thought they'd be.

2 out of 3 rounds - look at Woody Souths winning margin and then look at how many Timmy Sumner kicked  (clue: it's about the winning margin, for those playing at home)

No need to tell you the moral of this story 8)

Wow, how bizarre, it's actually 3 out of 3 rounds that he has been the "goal" difference.

There is some very serious talent floating around. Sumner is an absolute jet at this level, he turned it on when he wanted to. The landscape of the lower divisions has changed in the past few years with quite a number of teams with a host of players who would easily play higher. Is it the ‘marquee’ player since the cap was introduced I wonder? Anyway, congratulations to Woody South, a very fit unit with a good spine. Their mids may find it difficult against the best teams as they struggle ruck wise but apart from that they are a good side and well drilled. Great to see Adam and the boys for a beer after the game.

I can’t wait for a cold beer with zedman after the game on Saturday. I have asked the league if we can implement a ‘mercy’ rule though

It's a good call on talent. I'm a firm believer that the gap from top divisions to div 5-6 has closed compared to 10-15 years ago. I don't think it's dropped away at the top, rather the standard has improved in lower divisions.

And yet everyone wants to laugh and scoff at player payments in the lower grades.

The difference is clearly depth and it gets stronger each division you go up. Div 4 reserves is much better than div 5 reserves and the players after you get past your clubs best 10-12 are better in higher divisions.

A top 2 div 5 side in my opinion would not be out of water in div 4 and probably wouldn’t be bottom in div 3 in most seasons- they could even avoid relegation in some instances. Still some good footy in these divs and as I have said already, it has improved.

Agree depth would be the defining difference. It’s really hard to gauge exactly where sides would sit in higher divisions from one season to the next, D5 and D6 has improved immensely over the past 5 years. We had 2 guys who played D6 for us last year (and no disrespect but probably weren’t in our top 8 players) who are now playing D2. That’s a massive jump but I hear they are holding their own. I don’t know what that means haha but probably says more for the quality in lower divisions than most people realise

Div 5 reserves must be terrible because div 4 reserves is the worse i've seen in years. Top teams are ok but bottom teams would struggle in C6

Depends who you consider our best player? My opinion on our best is probably different to others.

Michael Wheaton has been our most consistent player this year, wouldn't surprise me if he's leading the B&F - but he's well behind at least 10 other who play similar roles.

Might have to get out and watch one of their games, I coached him for a couple of years as a kid, he was a cracking lad that gave it 100% no matter where I put him.
