Think it will be a competitive year between Flies, Saints, Cove, Porties ,Shoes......... Flaggy a step up on the 5 sides mentioned, but not as bigger gap as last year.

Valleys and Emus in for very long years......

And Dingy???
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I think its best not to comment on them AM Bays, most top enders gone from last year.

Rams and Lions top and second in div 7. Might be the way to go for Sharks next year too.

Aldinga FC needs to seriously consider a move to Div 2 of the HFL. A comp with two divisions can only help this club build some success. Get some success and people will come and stay at your club.

Could have done that with a 2 division SFL but some clubs didn't want to swallow their pride and play div 2 footy [emoji849]

Pretty disappointing showing by the Shoes on the weekend. Flaggies well on top throughout. One dimensional coaching doesn't help with a pretty poor attempt at setting a press and creating a game plan around that. Appeared to be the theme for the shoes poor performance in the first half. Second half man on man change showed a minor improvement but no match for the Falcons leg speed and execution. Not a winning philosophy. Worst part for me was hearing later that the coach is sick of conversations with "others" about using a press correctly and he is now determined to go one on one at the contest. Good luck with that. Not much running around in a reserves side that was undefeated last year either. Shoes definitely have the talent to win it but lack direction and method. At least that seems to be the common thought amongst the folk that spoke to me.

Some interesting games with Dingy having the bye -

Cove/Christies - Cove at home, just, the 2 improver's this year, suggest both eyeing off a top 3 spot
Flaggies/MV - Flaggies
Noarlunga Debry - Porties look to have much more upside
Reynella/HV - Thought HV were OK in R1, this might be closer than most think, will tell a story for both clubs this result. Flies at home

Shootout at Cove today with Christies beating the Cobras 25.14 to 16.18! Really entertaining to watch. I am not predicting a repeat result on the return leg at the bigger Christies however.

HV double shocker yesterday
Cannot blame injuries when there is lack of structure and gameplan
On positive news Jonny made his return despite rumours he was leaving

Div 2 HFL  ? Geographically this make no sense. Aldinga to Mt. Pleasant .. i doubt it.

Wasn't it more a reference to the travel that the Aldinga ladies are required/prepared to do. Definite concerns for the clubs in the Fleurieu gulf corridor. Myponga and Yankalilla remain competitive in the GSFL A grade but seem to lack the depth of other GSFL clubs and their Senior Colts and Junior Colts are playing as merged entities this year. Aldinga are back to the "Crawford Days" in seniors, no U17.5, a battling U15's and a decent U13 but where retention of those lads will be challenged next year when they head to Willunga High etc. How much longer can Yank, Myponga and Aldinga survive as three separate clubs?

Also noticed Aldinga are down to one u12 team, always had 2 recently.

Anyone know what numbers Willunga have in their juniors? I heard last year they were rolling 40+ kids thru their 15's, if similar numbers they should put a team in the Sunday SFL comp.

Bit harsh on the new coach- give him time to get the players to execute the gameplan. He is a good coach...

Slightly off topic, been to 3 games and noticed a crack down on bottles/cans at all ovals during breaks from the league and gameday officials.

Could someone let me know ruling? Is it to do with the Alcohol licence at venues?
What's the difference between a can of beer on the oval or a can of coke??
I totally understand bottles on oval at any time being inappropriate, but is the problem the can or the content of can?

Cheers!

Generally it’s to do with the club’s licence. Any alcohol purchased in the bar must be consumed within the licenced area.
