What a load of crap.

I'm not affording anyone excuses.. but I reckon at a guess 99% of young 20yo girls would've gone to the police instead of the local news.

"Expertise and nous" knock it off, doesn't take either to know their are proper avenues than ringing up the news crew.

You are so far off the mark with your 99% of girls would've gone to the Police. Sexual assault is one of the most under reported crimes. Do a literature search and educate yourself.

I don't think his saying 99% of girls report

Just if a girl decided to report 99% of those choosing to report would report to the police over a news station

Reporting to police or media does not change the fact that sam did something wrong.

Re: Port Adelaide 2018

Postby Booney » Mon Apr 30, 2018 3:33 pm

If a season can be defined by one week then the week ending April 29th 2018 might just be a defining one for the Port Adelaide Football Club.

The week started with the most tragic news young key forward Todd Marshall had unexpectedly lost his father just 6 months after losing his mother. Then with a messy, at best, conclusion to the Sam Powell-Pepper investigation the AFL let the SANFL know Powell-Pepper was available at SANFL level (?) and to wrap things up the fit (notice no shoulder tape this year?) and in form Hamish Hartlett blows a knee out in an innocuous manner just moments from the end of a training session. What a week for the club. Tragedy in every sense, confusion in every sense and then sheer disappointment all in one week.

Together the players, coaches, administrators and their families held strong, supported each other through an awful week and front up on the weekend to face the inform North Melbourne on their own soil. We’d had a couple of ordinary weeks on field, make no mistake and with first choice players Ryder, Pittard, Powell-Pepper, Marshall and Rockliff injured or returning from injury we were going to see some of our depth on show. I liked what I saw.

I didn’t however like what I saw when Goldstein taps to Cunnington to a nervous Jonas on Brown and free kick and goal in the first 30 seconds. No. No. NO! That, thankfully, didn’t last.

From here Port’s defence was simply outstanding. Hombsch used his body to keep Waite up the ground or out of the contest, Howard used his reach and closing speed to completely nullify Zeibell and Jonas stopped Brown from getting a run at it at every opportunity. All three of these key backs can thank Tommy Clurey for a hand from time to time throughout the day and the coaches for devising an excellent plan to quell a potent, if not proven, forward half. The team within the team did the job again.

In the middle large Charles broke even with Goldstein, which means Dixon gets the points in that battle. Westhoff looked more at home playing forward / midfield than ruck / forward and our true grit mid Brad Ebert continued his excellent season. Those mentioned so far provided the grunt in the back half and middle. Then we needed some fast hands and outside class and although not mentioned in any best player lists I have seen I thought our skipper Travis Boak provided some opportunities for the BOG Jared Polec to break away from congestion and move the ball forward. He was excellent. He has been on a few occasions this year and was without doubt our best on the weekend.

So we’ve got the back half in order and now the mids are doing their job, who will cash in up front? The midsized forward half we constructed in the absence of Dixon to the midfield, that’s who. Sammy Gray reaped the greatest reward and should have finished with 5, Wingard and Neade did their bit with and without the ball for 2 each, the teachers (Hinkleys) pet Aidyn Johnson showed why the senior coach adores him so much. His pressure on the defensive unit for North flowed all the way up the ground making the defenders job just that bit easier as North were under pressure all the way up the ground. I really liked his game, Johnsons. Numbers weren’t huge with just 9 touches, 5 tackles and a goal but effort like that will soon be rewarded with better numbers than that. Both Johnson and Neade have made the most of their opportunities so far.

One of the most pleasing parts of this review is that I’ve not mentioned R.Gray or Wines and I’ve named 13 players. That’s the type of even spread we need, not to say Robbie and Ollie didn’t play their part, they sure did with 43 touches and 10 clearances between them, it was more the fact they didn’t need to stand out as they did over the last month for us to look like a midfield unit capable of supplying the forwards with enough ball to kick a winning score.

One swallow does not make a summer they say, perhaps one diabolical week could make a winter.

Dave’s best : Polec, S.Gray, Ebert, Dixon, Westhoff, Jonas.

An interesting week ahead at selection. Looks like Ryder will be back in, one of Powell Pepper and Rockliff may find themselves at SANFL level for another week as we head West to tackles the Weagles. We may also leave out one of Hombsch, Howard, Clurey and Jonas to balance up the return of Ryder. I think Pittard may also come in to replace Houston who hasn’t been at his best in the last few weeks.

In – Ryder, SPP, Pittard
Out – Barry, Houston, Wingard (inj)
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

What's the verdict on Wingards hammy? looked like he tweaked it in the marking contest, then tore it kicking the goal.
