Postby Thiele » Thu May 03, 2018 7:42 pm

League
West Adelaide veteran Jason Porplyzia could return for the first time in two seasons against Glenelg on Friday night.
The 2015 premiership star hasn’t played at Macca’s League level since Round 7 2016 due to a series of serious knee injuries but has been named on the extended interchange bench.
He has been joined by former Crow Jono Beech, who has recovered from a back ailment, ruckman Daniel Webb and steady defender Jack Agostino.
Their return has forced Dustin Head and Thomas Pillion to be sent back to the Reserves.

This one of Phil H's fun facts caught my eye:
"Glenelg's first ever SANFL game was against West, almost 97 years ago (May 7th 1921 @ Adelaide Oval)"

Would they have a re-enactment game on the exact date of May 7th 2021? I was in Japan when Sturt had their anniversary in 2001, so not sure what lengths the SANFL goes to for these matches.
I would hope they make a fuss over it, there won't be another until Central turns 100, and I dare say most of us old buggers would not be around to see that game. Worth playing the centenary game at Adelaide Oval IMO.

I would say that Westie's reserves would be a bit of a demotion from AFL in any case!
No, it was the relationship (if any) with the great Matthew, that I was panicking over.

Yeah, providing that Glenelg is still in existence in three years time. And West.

Perhaps after they merge, they can play with themselves...

1/2 time
Glenelg 9.4
West 7.3

6 goals to 1 to the bays that quarter. A 17 point lead for the bloods at 1/4 time becomes a 13 point lead to glenelg.

Bays jumped West in 2nd quarter, 4 goals inside first 8 minutes. Glenelgs pressure hurting west. Smalls for Glenelg cleaning up, mileras 5 between them and 2 for motlop.

See which version of West comes out in the 3rd
