I'd love to see a showdown get Thurs/Fri night. I guess AFL are worried about Melb TV audiences, worth a shot though surely.

Friday night would be a given, has there ever been a derby, showdown, Q clash or bridge battle on a Friday night?

Crows Sydney is often a friday night, surely that would rate similar or less than a showdown in melbourne?

From Ch7's perspective, the sat night game is freo st kilda or bulldogs brisbane, both arent exactly big games.

Could have moved the carlton essendon game to sat night and then taken the sat arvo timeslot for the thursday

the biggest reason is both the crows and port would have had 5 day breaks, but im sure both would accept that given the extra prime time slot (maybe not port as much given they did come back from perth)

Wasn’t the Showdowns last year in the top 5 rated games of the season?

Thats about 350/1
Easy money

Betting on Carlton can't be easy money. I know Essendon are bad but no Murphy, Docherty or Gibbs...there's nothing left.

No players using shoulder strapping.

Burgoyne caught holding the ball twice for two goals.

Pendlebury on the sequence of tackles late in the second quarter;

"Some great care shown in those tackles, guys making super fast decision about body weight difference and how hard to tackle. More than footballers #brains,
