Round 5 5/5/18

Brahma Lodge v Greenacres
More welcome points for Brahma after breaking the duck last week, Brahma's loyal clubmen to ease the pressure

Rosewater v Lutheran
Rosewater looking to keep their perfect start intact while Lutheran will be desperate for a win, Rosewater at home will be tough

West Croydon v Elizabeth
West Croydon keen to make amends for the loss of points, as Elizabeth will look to get back in the top half. Might get ugly for the Eagles if they can't find something

Salisbury West v Trinity
Match of the round. Both teams looking strong but who will be 1 game better after Saturday? Trinity in a tight one

Para Hills v Fitzroy
Fitzroy will hopefully get a few soldiers back while Para Hills are looking good again. Para Hills at home

What are your tips?

West Croydon vs Elizabeth match of the round for me.. the Eagles may have started the season slower than they like, but this is a unit that was very strong last year making a prelim and magoo’s winning a flag.

Salisbury West v Trinity will get a good clash, an interesting one, we will find out if Westies are genuinely a contender this year or beneficiary of a soft early season draw.

Fitzroy will struggle,, lots missing by all reports.

Apparently not too many interested in playing A-grade there at the moment. Expect Pulteney-esque level of sandbagging.

Would like to think Elizabeth will be competitive against anyone in Div6 but lack a bit of experience and haven't quite put it all together like they did late last year when they only lost 1 game in the back half of the year. But certainly if they don't make finals its a failed season

Don't be fooled by Elizabeths 1-4 start to the seaosn. They have played against what most people would say are the top 5/6 sides in the comp and they have been competitive every week until the weekend - but Greenshields out hurt them massively with their inside game on Saturday and Jhye Mcconnell looked like he would've preferred to have been anywhere else but playing footy. They'll come good over the next 4 weeks and would expect them to be 4-5 at the break and will pinch a few more on the return leg.

I ran into a fella I know at the footy on Saturday night who is involved with AL. From his reports, they have been hit pretty hard with some key injuries, has confidence that they can be competitive with a full team available. A few key ins to return over the next few weeks. Who knows though, they need to get a wriggle on though.

Top of the table clash this weekend. Rosewater vs Para Hills. Think this will be a ripper of a game. Para Hills for me!

Technically true, but WC are better IMO and are clear flag favorites.

Very tough month ahead for WC - will know more about them after they play some quality sides. 4/5 wins have come against the bottom 4.

They and them? Isn't it us and we Ramming23?

2 of those have been at Trinity and Lutherans away, which are generally tough to win at. Kicked Brahma off the park in round 1 which was by at least double by what Rosewater and Salisbury West have done who are in the top 5 and kicked the highest score comfortably than anyone else v Greenacres so far.

Brahma Lodge 38.19-247 d Greenacres 11.10-76
West Croydon 44.15-279 d Greenacres 3.2-20

32 points hardly comfortably more, lucky they kicked straight :D (although I will give you the margin was vastly bigger LOL)

The problem with making bold predictions based on early season form is you just never know who isn't playing, which can make a massive difference to each club

End of Round 9 will

Round 6 12/5/18

Elizabeth v Salisbury West
Westies will be keen to solidify their top 5 spot going down at home last week, while Elizabeth need a confidence booster. This might not be the week.

Greenacres v Adelaide Lutheran
One team will put their first win on the board, and safe to say I think it'll be Luthies

Fitzroy v West Croydon
Fitzroy well beaten last week but will be hoping for some players to return. West Croydon are flying and will take some beating

Para Hills v Rosewater
Match of the round. Both teams have been getting it done well but only one team can win. Para Hills, just

Trinity v Brahma Lodge
Trinity have been up and down and scored a gritty win last week but Brahma Lodge has 3 D Steeles who kicked 21 goals collectively last week. Trinity to tough it out again
