I was following the lead of the midfield and forward groups who had already huddled together. As you alluded to, each had a little more to discuss than us

Before we rip in, I'm going to give @Dolphin Treasure a right of reply.

However, it has come to my attention that we were approached by CBCOC to have the game at our ground and we said NO, so as a result, they've possibly found the farthest away possible oval from us as a result 8)

I’m not involved in any decision making but our preference would be a large oval to suit our game style. Interestingly our b grade & A grade assistant from last season is involved with Marion now. So it would be a fair assumption that someone from the club reached out to Daisy. I hope Distance from hope valley wasn’t a major factor in the decision making process. Although I’m sure the decision makers are well aware it’s a fair drive from Hope Valley to Marion ;)

In saying that it’ll b great to have a look at Marion Oval & it’s facilities.

It's massive and in excellent nick to boot - I was helping out training for a basketball tourny (just behind the oval) and the oval is massive

How/why do yellow cards get withdrawn?

Common sense, that’s how. Maybe the question you should be asking is “why were they given in the first place?”. They didn’t make sense and they were disputed. The other ‘senior’ umpire filed a report about them and common sense has prevailed.

The pleasing thing about this whole mess was the League got on the front foot with it directly with both umpires and then called me on a Sunday to advise me they were going to be withdrawn. All I had done at that stage was sent a text to Colin asking for a meeting on Tuesday. No meeting needed and the matter is now closed. Well handled by Colin on an issue that should not have even existed.

Interestingly we had a similar thing happen to us. A few weeks ago against Pultney Schar was given a red card. The card was thrown out believe it or not. Not reduced to a yellow but thrown out. Colin even then was on the front foot & the matter sorted that week, no tribunal, no case to answer. The umpire that gave the card probably felt a bit of ‘embarsement’ after the other umpire & Colin had a chat about what happened.

Not that I want to continue this umpire discussion.. but just as an update I can confirm he umpire in question has history, and has officially been stood down from the AdFL ranks.

The Bedge's rolling Team of the Year proudly sponsored by D5 Club BBQ's (* #)

Again another week with a large number of changes. Have elected to go with a 4 man bench this week as well.

Despite being in a winless side, Michael Wheaton & Jack Delchau (IF) get the nod for their outstandingly consistent seasons. Josh Sipek goes out injured to make way for Delchau.

Daniel Williamson (HV), Liam Narcys (LOC) and Lachlan Harrison (CBC) pressing for selection, whilst Matt Brincat (BOS) would be in if we chose to go with two rucks, but at the moment finds himself stuck behind Martinello, with Hayden Cleveland (PUL) close behind in 3rd, and Tom Riddle (HV) efforts Saturday have rocketed the pint size jumping machine into the 4th best ruck.

Jarryd Trenowden (LOC) is replaced by Luke Broadbent (HEC) - the Lockleys back line concedes almost 85 points per game, and is the worst defensive side out of the top 6 clubs, no one deserves a gig with that effort.

This is getting increasingly harder to do each week.

F: C. Mickan (LOC), T. Langford (PUL), A. Scaffidi-Muta (BOS)
HF: A. Paton (LOC), T. Sumner (WS), M. Raymond (CBC)
C: S. Stormonth (LOC), N. Chesser (KEN), K. Hanel (WS)
HB: D. Payne (HV), M. Partington (CBC), J. Owens (CBC)
B: S. Currie (PUL), L. Broadbent (HEC), J. Delchau (IF)

Ruck: H. Martinello (LOC), J. Brusnahan (WS), S. Raymond (CBC)

Int: J. Hoppo-Luckett (PUL), D. Delawyer (KEN), J. Wilson-King (KEN), M. Wheaton (IF)

* - Likely bias views based on what I've seen so far this season, may not accurately reflect best 21.

# - Not really sponsored by club BBQs
