Talk on the national game

Maybe they need a minimum spend rule to count the memberships, say $200 or more spend is counted as a member, then at least we could compare correctly.

Those 3 game memberships should not be used.

The only thing that people agree upon is that membership should include a paid seat to a match.

They could report how many membership 'seats' have been sold.

ie 70,000 3 game memberships = 210,000 membership seats

50,000 11 game memberships = 550,000 membership seats

pretty easy to then compare each club.

you could present the figure as a raw number of how many actual seats have been sold but also as a percentage of available membership seats sold for that year.

exactly.

need splits and prices for 11+ members, 3+ game tickets, then other ticketed memberships like interstate or country memberships, then paid non ticketed memberships.

easy enough to compare apples with apples then.

the crows are reporting 80k members or something like that, but they should be trumpeting that they sell out their membership every year - I would guess 40k full members tickets, probably an average of $400 a ticket, plus at least 10k, maybe more, 3 game members.

That would smoke most other teams (and dare I say it, port, who would average more like $300 for their 11 game members and at a guess would have much less of them too)

I don't care if you count 3 game members or 11 game members, but if you buy more than one 3 game membership in one year, it should count as one membership for the year, not two. This is where Ports numbers are skewed

that happens at the crows too (my brother did it last year)

and thats why revenue is a better indicator than pure numbers

There would be opposition supporters who would buy a 3 match membership at the Crows to guarantee them a ticket plus they get the bonus of a couple of other games if they want to go to them.

Does it guarantee them a game though? What if you support Collingwood, got a 3 match membership for the Crows but the Wood's game was sold out, how does ticket exhaustion work? Do you have to nominate early what games you are attending or rock up on the day?

Breakdown of revenue by club for 2017

http://www.footyindustry.com/?page_id=4121

Crows lead the way for $ per member (apparently). Port's doesn't appear to be disclosed, or at least is missing from that list.

I’m shocked. I’d have thought showdowns would’ve been right up your alley...

It's the topic of discussion when they all meet up on a Tuesday for cheering practice at the club!*
