Made a similar comment last night.

I recon a lot of it was cause of the 4th umpire on the field.
More maggots leads to more bad decisions.
Each of them felt the need to get involved.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

It was a bit of that, it was a bit of them looking at each other wondering if it was their call or the other blokes.

Umpiring is at an all time low, it's appalling the amount of incorrect disposal the game currently allows in the name of keeping the ball moving. In the last quarter last night, Trengove takes a defensive mark, plays on and takes on Gray on the mark, Gray tackles and Trengove shrugs him and all in that motion the ball comes loose. No handball, no kick, prior opportunity, holding the ball. Well, that's what the rule says but not the maggot.
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

Im not one to defend umpires, and whilst I've seen several bad calls this season, overall I dont think it's too bad. I miss the days of "Jesse" James handing out his own judge, jury and executioner on the field which quickly brought players in to line.

The umps these days have to contend with:

- More congestion than ever
- Fast game than ever
- Interpretation changes mid-season
- Flavour of the week rules

Not an easy gig by any means

Thoughts on the Westhoff "contact below the knees free"? That was terrible!

Also the Thomas "blocking off the ball" made no sense - the dogs player (Trengove?) took the uncontested mark in front of him anyway, who was he apparently blocking for?

It's an impossible gig because we keep adding rule upon rule. Take a step back, reduce the amount of rules, make it simple, so umpires aren't calling on rules that they can only get right less then 50% of the time.

As a part time whistle blower I couldn't agree more chopper.... new rules, and inturpretations of rules makes it harder than it needs to be. The below the legs on in particular I loathe. The first free last night went against the bloke who was first to the ball and got taken high....

Refreshed after it’s Bye Week, the Friday Forecast is back -

* Eagles out of the blocks early to nullify the home support.
* JK to continue his recent good form to be bog.
* Looking for Hurn to size up the goals from the centre square.
* West Coast valiant but unable to break their 19 year SCG drought.
* Swans by 14points.
* Attendance 42,056.

All quiet on the Crows front, do they have a bye this week or are they just looking forward to the draft now? I heard they have 5 1st round picks or something

Anyone that thinks this game is good has rocks in their head.
West coast enter fwd 50, sydney mark it, clear the ball down the other wing enter fwd 50, west coast mark it, they go down the other wing, enter f50 sydney mark it, rinse repeat for 30m x 4. The only time the game isnt predictable is after a goal and there is a centre bounce, luckily we dont get many goals, it would drive the coaches nuts with all the unpredictability

In all seriousness though this my exact point.

A tight arm wrestle, whose gonna crack first, what players are going to stand up etc

I don’t mind it.
