Agreed....and game was played in great spirits by both teams

Needed this ref for the France match. He took no shit.

Disappointed Australia didn't win that, had dominated large portions of the game without finding the back of the old onion bag.
Ideal scenario now after Peru went down to France would be France beat Denmark by 2 goals, we beat Peru by 1 goal

Does anyone know what happens if France beat Denmark by a goal and we beat Peru by a goal.

Meaning we end on same goal difference, our head to head was a draw and a likely possibility of same goals for

1. Greatest number of points (each team gets three for a win and one for a draw).

2. Goal difference in all group matches.

3. Goals scored in all group matches.

And if two or more teams still are tied after that? We go to:

1. Greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned.

2. Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned.

3. Greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned.

4. Greater number of points obtained regarding fair play conduct (yellow cards = minus-1; indirect red card, as a result of a second yellow card = minus-3, direct red card = minus-4, yellow card and direct red = minus-5, with only one of the deductions applied to a player in a single game).

And if, by some quirk, there’s still a tie?

Then there will be a drawing of lots by FIFA’s Organizing Committee.

We are only one yellow card ahead though so if we get 1 more than them it will come down to drawing straws!

What if a player picks up 3 yellow cards in a match? [emoji16]

It will be interesting to see how France and Denmark approach the game. I assume yellow cards are wiped after the group stage, so will they rest players on yellow cards? Despite their loss this morning I would have thought the team in Group D that France would least likely want to play is Argentina, who at best, can only finish second.

The worry in the France Denmark game is that a draw sees them both through (load up on the 0-0 correct score)

I think whatever team France puts on the park will be quality and maybe even moreso if they rest players and give their extremly quality bench a chance to impress one time before the knockout games.

I don't think they will at all. It'll be the difference between playing Croatia and Iceland in the knockout phrase. Denmark will finish top with a win

Hopefully but a big chance top will face Argentina as well who no one deep down wants to play. (Argies should get 3 points against Nigeria)

A win to Iceland tonight puts the ball well and truly in their court to prevent Argentina of progressing
