Whoa.

Terribly sad CM. When you said a set back and it was a matter of time, I was thinking maybe weeks or months, not hours.

Sincerest condolences from the SAFooty Family to yours :(

Sorry to hear that mate.

We lost my mother in law the day before Mothers Day. I lost my Dad suddenly, and that was tough, But watching someone deteriorate in front of you is on another level.

Hope the family rallies around each other.

Appreciate all the messages of support - Thank you to one and all.

Mum had been ill for a while, and I know the Chemo was knocking her about. Sometimes it makes you wander, the treatment, is worse than the disease. Despite knowing for about 3 or 4 months that she had a battle on her hands, the way things went down yesterday was all a bit surreal. An early morning phone call from my step father (who is not going that well himself) to say things had taken a bit of a turn, and that it terms of treatment the situation had gone beyond that. To getting a phone call 12 hours later to say she had passed. ****.

Now I feel shit-house for not getting back in time to say goodbye. Instead we are driving back tomorrow to take care of arrangements, not looking forward to the drive at all. Managed to track down my uncle in Brisbane, who I have not spoken to for over 30 years to tell him the news. Not an easy call. The one to my older brother was just as hard - he has a brain injury that makes him a bit erratic.

All I have been able to learn so far is mum had a preference for a certain funeral company...... that's it. Not sure what to do from here but meet with them on Wednesday & work through the process. Then.....then I need to work out what to say at the funeral. I have no ******* idea what to say.... What do you say?

Work have been fantastic - take whatever time you need, and they have sent a big bunch of flowers to my home over here today. At least that cheered up Miss C.

We will get over this hurdle and move on.

I went with my 3 most memorable stories about my old man, dad was a funny bloke and he wouldn't have wanted everyone crying and being morbid so I picked out 3 memories that made everyone piss themselves laughing, my sister had a crack-up of a memory that she chucked in that wasn't as tame as mine.

At the end of the day you'll speak from your heart, you'll read it to siblings or immediate family for a bit of advice, it's your parting message to your mum so whatever comes to mind.

Mrs HH3 had no idea what to say. She sat down at the computer to type something out.

It ended up being 3 pages and had to be cut down.

It'll come.
