It is. The leadership group seems to have over ridden the coaches on this one. It was player driven I believe.

Sturt will beat Adelaide so Port must beat Norwood Sunday to keep a finals spot alive. A loss will wrap up the final 5 in the SANFL.

Pity, this young lad has really impressed me when I've seen him play. Will be one to watch in the next year or two at AFL level I think. Very smart footballer.

PORT ADELAIDE defender Joel Garner has had successful shoulder reconstruction surgery on Tuesday, bringing his season to a premature end.

Garner has played all ten games in the SANFL for the Magpies this season, impressing with his toughness, composure, and clean disposal.

Port Adelaide Head of High Performance Ian McKeown said the decision for Garner to have surgery was made after he had suffered a number of shoulder incidents throughout the season.

“Joel had experienced several shoulder subluxations across the season, it was only a matter of time before he would have to have surgery. After careful deliberation the decision was made to have surgery this week. The timing gives Joel the absolute best opportunity to rehab well and be in an optimal space for next preseason, and beyond.”

The 19-year-old was taken by Port Adelaide with pick 60 in the 2017 National Draft from the Eastern Ranges.

In more positive news, tall defender Jarrod Lienert is available for Magpies selection this week as a timely replacement for Garner.

Bicks' book of stiff sh*t:

Port win on Saturday, they go 10-4. We have been 10-4 only 4 times in our history.

3 of those seasons = preliminary final

The other..

Premiers..

How did Trengove go. I didn't see the game & how he contributed, but see he had 21 disp 8 marks 4 tackles. Those stats sound very good & deserving of his spot.

They were and with Pittard unlikely next week he should keep his spot after a solid game across half back.
