Polec was having an absolute mare against Richmond (I think it was) in the first qtr. I remember seeing him get a blast from Hinkley on the phone and to his credit turned it around. I didn't think he had it in him to do that.

His outside running always amuses me how fast he can go forward but then when he's chasing it looks like he's running in gumboots through mud.

This has another Port 101 signing announcement written all over it.

Someone in the media is given a bone (this case Dittmar), they announce a huge offer for one of their imminent signings at another club, wait a week, announce Polec stays with Port because of club, culture, team mates blah blah
Just classic media spin from those at Alberton.

Gold Coasts Tom Lynch to miss the rest of the season after having PCL surgery :

GOLD Coast captain Tom Lynch will undergo knee surgery and miss the remainder of the season.

Lynch has suffered a recurrence of the posterior cruciate ligament injury that ruled him out of four games earlier this season and has been advised surgery is the best option.

The 25-year-old missed the final three matches of 2017 with the same problem.

Lynch is a restricted free agent being courted by a number of Melbourne clubs and could have conceivably played his last game in Suns colours.

"It’s really disappointing to know that I’m going to have to have surgery and not play out the season," Lynch said.

"I’ve been doing all I can to rehab the injury without requiring surgery. That has meant I haven’t been able to get out there and train with the team during the week like you normally would.

"We’ve been assessing my knee weekly and the latest advice recommends surgery and I’ll get that done as soon as possible."

Lynch said he was aware that now his season was over, speculation about his playing future would continue.

"Obviously there is going to be commentary around my contract with the news of me being ruled out for the rest of the season, I’m realistic to understand that," he said.

"Post-surgery I’m sure the time will come where I’ll sit down with my manager and work through what the best option going forward is.

"Clearly, I’ve got a decision to make on my future, but the reality is I haven’t made that decision."

Gold Coast general manager of football operations Jon Haines said surgery meant Lynch would not be available to play for four to six months.

Is the current top 4 or so the pecking order?

Richmond: Seem to still have the hunger and deserve outright favourtism.
Collingwood: Can't have done much more than they could after a poor start, 6 on the trot, a few very comfortable wins pre-bye, a little lacklustre since but still taking the 4 points.
West Coast: Just too much to ask with no Darling or Kennedy, will bounce back.
Sydney: Always going to be dangerous at the pointy end, every loss means they're closer to a win.
Port: Soft draw from here, need a big Victorian scalp away to be rated any higher than their position.
GWS: Have landed in 6th for the time being by default.
Melbourne: Smashing Adelaide and the Bulldogs seemed to have knocked the wind out of them, should've been 4th by now, will probably miss the 8 though.
Geelong: Supporting them must be like the hottest chick at school is your cousin, far better than 8th but is about right when you see their output.
North Melb: Anywhere between 6th and 10th, depends on which North shows up, on the flip side, plenty of kids having a genuine crack.
Hawthorn: Similar ilk to North, exciting times a head, can still knock off anyone.
Adelaide: Can still go 6-2 from here, talent just doesn't disappear, confidence does though.
Essendon: Will shape the 8, wont make it though, work in progress.

I have us winning 11 or 12 and missing out. Terrible percentage and won’t get to the 13 required to make it IMO

Bad loss for the Roos yesterday, could have been a game ahead of GWS/Melb/Geelong/Hawks with a win. Despite the loss it was a pretty high intensity game which we will benefit from in the long term, plenty of learnings to come out of the video review.

its also the type of game we would have lost by 40+ odd points in the last couple of years. Even if we don't make the 8 from here I rapt with our season.

Essendon (10) 10

After doing a quick one I can see two games that we picked differently straight up, not that I think I'm right, I hope I'm not actually.

Port have a crap record against the WCE at home and next showdown is a crows home ground, have they found that winning feeling again?

2 spots (most) agree on, Richmond and Sydney top 2.

Most agree Collingwood, Port and West Coast are in the 8.

Last 3 spots could go to any of Geelong, Hawthorn, North, Melbourne, GWS or even Adelaide and Essendon with the right results.

Going to be a cracking run home.
