Best England side in my lifetime.

Really?
This side would be mauled by some of the English sides of the past but TBH this whole WC seems a lot poorer standard on the whole than previous years.

Best standard of all time, Italy couldn't even make it and Germany couldn't even make it past the group stage. In the past those sides would walk into semis as the standard was so bad.
Strongest standard World Cup in my life time and best England side in my lifetime. No other England side would get close to this one as this one have mental strength, too many soft cocks in the previous 50 years.
Belgium have great defenders and France have a good goal keeper too.
Great comp, such a revelation as the last 20 + years has been rubbish prior to this.

Disagree completely.
The great German, Italian and Brazilian sides of the 80’s and 90’s would wipe the floor with anyone from this era. You are kidding yourself if you think this is the best standard of all time. This English side definitely appear to have more heart but they have several C grade players and a very average back 3. They wouldn’t get close to some of the previous sides

No world cups appealed to me between 94 and now as they were crap.
Used to follow them religiously from the 70s till 94.
Stoked the standard is back up, been crap for so long. Loving this year and didn't even plan to watch it before it started.
It's so captivating compared to the crap of the last 28 years.
Never seen so much talk in the community about it too, it's great stuff.

Working tomorrow so I'm off to bed but good luck to Croatia as it would be cool if the semis had all 4 teams with Spurs or ex Spurs players.
World domination. ;)

It definitely has been one of the best ones to watch in the last decade or so but that doesn’t always equate to best standard. A lot of substandard players across all sides that wouldn’t have got a game in the past. I think the gap has closed between a lot of sides and it’s the most even it’s been in awhile which helps captivate the audience as in previous eras you always knew only 1 of 3-4 sides could win it.

Heartbreak for Russia but the Croats are partying everywhere after winning on pens.
1-1 after regulation and then Croatia went ahead in ET only for Russia to level with minutes remaining.

Must admit though, some of the 'It's comin home' stuff is funny and clever...

They will be devastated when Belgium pump them in the final! Especially considering most of the Belgium team are PL players too (9 of the starting 11 against Brazil were)

France take the lead early in the second half with a Umtiti header that might have got a touch off Fellaini. Giroud wasteful infront of goals in the first half

I thought France were somewhat lucky to get Belgium on an ordinary day. All they did after going a goal up was roll around.

The Belgians were poor across the middle of the park. DeBruyne, Chadli and Dembele turned it over far too often. If France had a decent striker it would have been over by halftime
