Daisy with two of your most trolled teams playing I expected some great work from you but your efforts were as poor as Menzel. 1/10

Geelongs top half dozen, very good.

Geelongs next half dozen, not bad.

Geelongs bottom 6, potatoes.

^^^ correct.

It was probably the bottom 6 making the main skill errors last night + Guthrie. I cant remember Geelongs kicking and marking being that bad before. Also, having a high pressure fwd line only works if you put on pressure. Parfit/Jones/Menzel absolutely smashed in that area by Betts/Galucci/Murphy.

What's the take from a Geelong supporter's POV with the Ablett experiment?

Has he got a pass mark for the season, was it a waste of a spot for a younger player, has he helped or hindered their quest for a flag?

My take - I like it, its a pass but i think they thought they were closer to the flag than reality is suggesting.

Without him last night you would have seen another potato (Parsons most likely). Its not like he's keeping a quality young mid out of the team.

He is still contributing as per last night, would be in their top 5 best for the game.

Ablett has been fine, still clearly protecting his shoulder which means his tackling and attack on the ball can be a bit questionable. Worry if we make finals someone might lay a big hip and shoulder on him. Needs to play more forward than midfield imo

And when the game was still alive there were some shocking disposals...started with Stanley shocking kick into centre square and turnover.....which ended with Paarrrrfit just kicking it OOB

Been serviceable.
Gets caught too often.
Protecting his body, lays no tackles and avoids contact

If we persist, then him and Danger swap roles and Ablett plays out of the goal square.

Ablett isn't keeping any quality out, but it would be good to see if the kids we do have are gonna be able to stand up and if they are part if of our future premoership chances.

We are, where we should be. We arent that good. Despite the so called Holy Trinity.

Yeah, I think he has a couple of solid years as a small 50 goal forward, 29.1 disposals and 3 tackles a match is definitely a solid pass mark.

Exactly mate.

After making back-to-back prelims they thought some extra cream on top would be what they needed to get one more flag out of Selwood, Taylor, Hawkins and Ablett when what you probably needed was more depth in the 15-25th player on your list.

We need a better gameplan and need to find better balance up forward.

Watching him (Ablett) live, no one kicks the ball higher when gong for distance which gives the opposition more time to spoil. That said, he still gets it a lot but his big tackling days are gone.

Heard a stat this week that Ablett has been caught holding the ball more this season even with 7 games remaining than ever before in one season.

Geelong have to go after a ruckman. I know Lycett has been mentioned but i'd go after Preuss from the Roos.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Goldy is 30, Preuss just signed until the end of 2020, you wouldn't get hold of Preuss from North.

His shot for goal is a prime example....kicks it so high from 50m its dropping on the goal line

Even kicking from HB down the eastern wing...the ball went higher the roof of the grandstands....
Just doesn't have that penetrating kick

He's stated his disappointment at not being picked yet this year. If Goldy goes on next year he might considering leaving. I wouldn't expect North to let him go either but you would be having the chat that's for sure.

Agree completely. Play Gaz as a small lead up forward. Will give you more than Menzel. Danger needs more midfield time.

We are lacking a CHF that can play as that link up guy in the centre third. Buzza is no good. My mail is they are looking at a good kid in the SANFL in his early 20's who could fill that role.....
