Correct. Late call up from CW.

Any preference? East or West better in your opinion?
Played the old East course once quite a few years back, seemes a bit more open than the West

Am missing it this year as currently travelling thru the NT.

Had a cracking front 9
19pts and 41 shots with 6 pars.

Late in the back 9 it just started to fall apart.
15th par 3. Just missed the green and plugged lie next to the base of a tree....

Ended up with 32pts. Quite disappointing really.
The baffler set to 16.5D and it worked a treat for the most part.

Cold/Wet/Windy?
Cool but not cold
No rain
Steady breeze

Overall conditions were good

Oops, just a quick flick during qtr time.
But given how he was playing that hole he would fit in at Thaxted

Yep severely dented my excitement when i saw that. Not paying that amount of coin to play the temporary spare hole again for probably the third time in 5 visits.

Kooyonga's temp hole is 1,000 times a better hole than the 15th anyways....

To be honest, their temp hole is the best par 3 on the course....

14th is the best but I agree that the temp hole is fantastic and would have no bearing on me not playing there, I love clubs that have a spare hole, much rather that than play a temp green

Last weekend summary, landed in Melbourne last Friday around 10.30am, straight in the car on a nice Sunny day and headed to the Mornington Peninsula.

When we got down there the day couldn't be anymore different, blowing a gale, very dark and pissing down sideways and 6 degree's. Arrived at St Andrews to an empty car park....went and had a chat to in the pro shop and looked at radar and looked like the worst was happening at that time and we would be OK for the arvo. So we braved it and headed out on course which we had to ourselves.

It was the strongest wind I have ever played golf in, aiming well off the fairways to try and hit them and hitting 5 irons from 100m out, we copped regular drenchings and nearly called it a day when the lightning started nearby!!! Main issue though was the cold, it didn't get over 6 degrees all arvo. It was true links weather!

We somehow scrapped in 18 with the last hole played in near darkness, I was very happy with how I played hitting a 95 off the stick 50 front and 45 back. Course was magnificent, really wide fairways but then tricky greens with massive swales and tough to hit. Would love to play again in more friendly conditions

Some photo's below.

onto Royal Melbourne on Sunday, I woke up Sat morning with a very sore left wrist from Friday, unfortuantely this carried into Sunday and I hit the voltaran gel and tablets just to try and swing the club. Got it good enough to get around but it was very sore and was only hitting the ball about 80% power.

The member we were playing with was running late so our tee time was put back an hour, good chance to have a look thru pro shop and make a purchase as a momento, we then hit the driving range with a bucket of balls, I only hit 2 as my wrist was hurting and didn't want to do anymore damage.

Onto the 1st tee and had a chat to the official starter, you need to play your round in 4 hours 10mins or the member will get a warning, 2 warnings in a month and you get a formal letter which then leads to a suspension if it continues! We had 3 visits during the round to check up on us.

Playing with a member was great as he gave us all the tips and where to aim etc as there are quite a few blind tee shots and a heap of dog legs.

Gladly we all hit the fairway on the 1st, thankfully it was very generous, but as was the case most of the day we were hitting low irons or hybrid's in for our 2nd shots as most par 4's were 380-410m range!

The greens were probably the toughest I have ever encountered, despite middle of July they were hard as a rock and very similar to turf cricket pitches. You could not hold an irons on the greens and needed to land short if you wanted to hit the green. They were also very quick. A great challenge.

Anyway I hit a 106 with 5 lost balls! the rough was pretty unforgiving, I parred the 10th which was my highlight.

A quick beer in the clubhouse post game was pretty awesome also, overall a great day!

Hey mate- was great. Very lucky with the weather, and even more lucky when they revealed the Session Ale cans amongst the beers!

Course was good- some tough bunkering on some holes, greens receptive to good shots, and putting was tough!

We were up and down as a group- managed 6 birdies (good) but also 5 bogeys (bad!). Just all too inconsistent with ball striking through the day.

Compounded when we played the (18th?) coming back into the clubhouse with drinks on the line and I carded a double bogey to shout the lads.

Certainly be willing to attend again!
