18 SA Rapids 0 5 9807 10752 91.21 0

It is advantage Foot Legends in Division IV after a few key results went the Cub's way in Round 5. Footy Legends comfortably saw off the challenge from Red Devils while the other unbeaten side The Willies suffered an upset defeat to White Line Fever who marched into the top eight. Herbs'N'Spices took care of woolballs so Footy Legends' main rivals suffered losses leaving them a game clear on top of the ladder.

Other coaches with a smile on their dial are Hawkers who returned to top form with a 2300 score that topped the league and saw them end a two game loosing streak. Elite Jobby go back into te top eight while go tiges, King Cobwebs and HereComesTheSuns all had important wins. Robsquad was probably not smiling that much after racking up the third highest score in the league and getting smacked by the mighty Hawkers. Down the bottom SA Rapids' fall from grace has continued with a third straight sub 2000 score and the Felons stunk up the place with a Hogg low 1700 which makes them a prime relegation fancy in this division.

Correct Rik E Boy - the Robsquad were not smiling after racking up the third highest score in the league and still getting smacked. The Robsquad play in 3 leagues - was the 3rd highest scoring team in all 3 leagues and lost the lot !

18 SA Rapids 0 6 11808 12920 91.39 0

The top sides are starting to get away from the pack as they all notched wins over lower ranked sides. The Hawkers look the main challenger to Footy Legends and as far as the top eight is concerned perhaps there is only left with Dangerwoodlett the vulnerable side. The bottom four are likewise looking like Divvy V sides as well as they can't seem to get that winning feeling. This one seems to be sorting itself out quite early.

The SuperCoach gods can be cruel at times as ladder leaders Footy Legends found out on the weekend. With Higgins a late out for the Legends the Cubman was forced to cop Crowden's 19 which swung a crucial match towards fellow top eight side Elite Jobby who gleefully scooped up the win. It wasn't a great week to be dropping a match at the top because most of the top eight sides won their matches so all of a sudden the Legends have some company up there.

Chokin Tuna and Woolballs clambered into the eight as go tiges and Dangerwoodlett made way. The Tuna have now won four of their past five matches and their recovery is now complete as they sit in 7th spot. A couple of teams that were in the relegation zone last week got important wins as well. HereComesTheSuns and Robsquad both got an invaluable four points while Mr Football was unluckily belted by a red hot DA HEAT and the Red Devils are stone cold and sinking fast. Poor old Rapids can't take a trick and the lad could be back into Divvy V again next year.

18 Ingle Farm Felons 1 7 15486 17050 90.83 4

The Willies have had a massive week after they smashed out 2406 to knock off Footy Legends in the top of the table clash. This result sees The Willies on top of the ladder a year after struggling to win a chook raffle in Division III last season. On this form it might be a short stay down here in Divvy IV. Elite Jobby also had an important win as they knocked off Herbs’N’Spices to be a legitimate premiership chance. The Hawkers are still looking strong and they cleaned up White Line Fever who aren’t.

SA Rapids finally broke through for their first win against a puzzling DA HEAT combination in a result that would even confuse Geelong fans when it comes to inconsistency. DA HEAT can rack up huge scores on occasion but they’ve managed to drop matches to the Ingle Farm Felons as well as SA Rapids. Meanwhile, Robsquad and Red Devils had vital wins to climb out of the cellar as Mr Football got the win but remain in the relegation zone. There’s a fair bit of SuperCoaching to go before relegation becomes a worry but the bye rounds loom which is a worry for those who haven’t gotten off to a flyer.

18 SA Rapids 1 8 17921 19341 92.66 4

The Willies are the standout side of the lower grades and it wouldn't surprise to see them pull off a double Hogg Premiership this year. Yes it's a far cry from last season when the Willies couldn't win a chook raffle and were so bad they were invited to Divvy V to help fill out the league. The Willies were impressive once again in dismissing former top four side Herbs'N'Spices in the match of the round. Not only did Herb loss but Elite Jobby's winning run came to an end which enabled Chokin Tuna to snaffle a spot in the top four on the back of some good recent form as once again the Tuna was biting.

There was no change to the eight this week although DA HEAT is fading fast. HereComesTheSuns could be the team to put the pressure on there although go tiges also put in a strong performance. Dangerwoodlett won a crucial mid table match against the Red Devils but for King Cobwebs the news was all bad as they dropped their match to bottom of the ladder Ingle Farm Felons. The Felons' victory moved them off the bottom of the table and now the Cobwebs are drifting dangerously close to the relegation zone. Experienced sides White Line Fever and Mr Football are badly in need of a face saving win to remain afloat.

The Hawkers have taken the lead in Hogg Division IV with a solid bye rounds performance to date. Their latest victim was the out of form Footy Legends who have lost their way after a bright start to the season. Woolballs, Chokin Tuna, Herbs'N'Spice and Elite Jobby are all up and about and looking good for the finals with Dangerwoodlett hanging on against a heap of mid ladder contenders that now somehow contains White Line Fever who looked to be in more trouble than the early settlers two weeks ago. The Willies are still looking good even if their return to the winners list this week was not with a big score, but a win is a win is a win. My other lad DA HEAT is as out as form as his brother Footy Legends and he went down yet again despite scoring a good score...close, but wooly was too good. King Cobwebs had a good week while Mr Football stunk up the place with a shocker and he is deservedly in the bottom four at the moment.

After the bye week dust has settled the Hawkers have emerged as the best side as they dealt with Herbs'N'Spices in fine style during Round 12. The Hawkers main challenge could come from Chokin Tuna who I was mentioning as a relegation candidate eight weeks ago. Casey has been in fine form in recent weeks and they are certainly not Chokin at the moment as Casey smashed his nephew Footy Legends who are now badly out of form. Being out of form is not a good option when you consider that White Line Fever and Herecomethesuns are making a genuine charge at the top eight. Robsquad was SA Rapids' second victim of the year and that loss to the bottom side probably puts a line through rd's boys this year. Meanwhile, Pup's Mr Football has finally cracked it for a win and it was a crucial one over a fellow relegation fancy the Ingle Farm Felons.

The Hawkers are going to be hard to hold in this league as the league leaders put on another clinic and a 360 point win with it to smash top 8 wooly. It was a great result for the Hawkers as Chokin Tuna and The Willies got rolled so the Hawkman now has a handy two game buffer at the top. He's a cert for Divvy III next year. It was another strong scoring week for Dangerwoodlett who thrashed DA HEAT and punted the Tigers into the relegation zone. Just outside the eight HereComesHereComesTheSuns with some decent recent form making a run at the top eight with woolballs or Footy Legends the nervous teams there. The rest have no show I reckon bar maybe White Line Fever. Speaking of no show the Ingle Farm Felons were in a giving rather than taking mood and they handed the unwanted implement to SA Rapids in the Divvy IV spoon day.

The super consistent Hawkers appear to be a cut above the rest as the major contenders appear to fall by the wayside on a regular basis. So far The Willies, Footy Legends, Herbs'N'Spices and more recently Chokin Tuna have appeared as a major contender only to fall away as the Hawkers rack up another win. Chokin Tuna went down to Woolballs in a crucial match this week that gave Hawkers a two game buffer and consolidated wooly's spot in the top eight.

Something that happens at this time of year is that teams who have been dudding it up and are wallowing in the relegation zone suddenly grow some teeth as the drop becomes reality. This week SA Rapids scored 2376 to roll the tiges while Ingle Farm Felons smacked Footy Legends after they racked up an impressive 2453. Footy Legends are second on scoring but 10th on the ladder which is always a bad look. One team down the bottom that is utterly toothless is Mr Football who look almost certain to be in Division V next year.

Top side and top scorer of the league Hawkers missed the boat in terms of the scoring bonanza but they did enough to put the skids on Dangerwoodlett and sent them tumbling out of the top eight. Plenty of other sides got amongst the scoring with some such as DA HEAT scoring well but not getting the competition points. Chokin Tuna and Elite Jobby are two sides stacked with talent but there might only be one of those sides in the top four with two matches to play.

Second top scorer of the year Footy Legends are back into the top eight after they scored a vital win. HereComesTheSuns and White Line Fever also got the wobbles so the Legends are back in business after a wobbly five or six weeks. With two weeks to go it could be percentage that decides what time stays in this division and who goes down to the Bunny Bowl. DA HEAT are light on for wins but their percentage is almost likely another win to them. The Felons meanwhile have a shocking percentage so they would need to win both to stay up. SA Rapids have found some form but perhaps too late to save the kid. Two to play and all to play for.

The top scorers in Division IV all had a good round this week with Hawkers once again underlining their premiership claims with a solid 2546. The crucial result was Chokin Tuna who scored a vital nine point win over Dangerwoodlett in a high scoring match. It was a bad loss for the woodletts but the heavy defeat by HereComesTheSuns has left the door open for them and arguably White Line Fever who lost to Footy Legends who claimed their spot in the top eight.

The relegation battle saw another critical result with the Red Devils claiming a two point win over robsquad who have been dragged down almost to the relegation zone as the result of that nailbiter. SA Rapids had a bumper season last year but this year they've been battling until recently. Can the kid stay up? Robsquad is in the gun now that SA Rapids are starting to score big. Go Tiges could be safe because they are top four in Divvy V and he could replace himself ha ha. Ingle Farm Felons and Mr Football are Divvy V bound.

One week to go you'd think Dangerwoodlett might be the ones to replace an out of sorts HereComeTheSuns.

The Hawkers are the hottest of red hot favourites for the Hogg Division IV title after they cleaned up second ranked Willies by nearly two hundred points. Apart from the Hawkers, the rest of the top eight look very even with Dangerwoodlett the soft touch after HereComesTheSuns somehow contrived to throw away their top eight spot. I think six sides are playing off for three promotion spots in this one as I don't think anyone is beating the Hawkers. I think the danger could come from the winner of the Elite Jobby v Footy Legends Elimination game.

Just outside the eight it was a brave effort from White Line Fever who missed out despite knocking off top four Herbie. King Cobwebs strong finish has ensured that SA Rapids is going to drop back to Division V again next year. The kid started very poorly this season and left himself a bit too much to do in the end. DA HEAT by rights should be in the eight ahead of dangerwoodlett but instead had to fight off a relegation battle which he did with the second of the late wins achieved deciding the last finals place. Robsquad have hung on by percentage over the Ingle Farm Felons who went down despite winning six of their last nine games. There is some hope for go tiges as they are second in Divvy V so they could in fact replace themselves but the better bet is go tiges bombing out in the Divvy V finals. Mr Football collected the wooden spoon and it's a far cry from ten years ago when Pup collected the 2008 Premier League title.

Finals Week One

Qualifying Finals
Hawkers 2609
Chokin Tuna 2357

The Willies 2421
Herbs'N'Spices 2336

Elimination Finals
Woolballs 2643
Dangerwoodlett 2360

Elite Jobby 2505
Footy Legends 2346

In a massive week of SuperCoach scoring 2300 did not cut it an all of the sides that got rolled score 2300-something. Premiership favourites Hawkers made mincemeat out of Chokin Tuna as they racked up an impressive 2609 to win promotion into Hogg Division III next season. Another side who is going up is The Willies. The Willies had a shocker in 2017 but they’ll be back in Divvy III next year only one year after they were relegated. The one poor season appears to be the aberration as the Willies crushed Herbs’N’Spices in their Qualifying Final.

In the knock out finals Woolballs emerged as a genuine threat after they flogged Dangerwoodlett with a league high 2643 that I’m sure would have raised eyebrows at Hawker headquarters. In the other Elimination Final it’s a disappointing end to a promising season for Footy Legends as Elite Jobby pantsed them to advance to the semi final against Herb next week.

Hogg Division IV Semi Finals

Woolballs 2320
Chokin Tuna 2089

Herbs’N’Spices 2179
Elite Jobby 2178

Herbs’N’Spices have earned themselves a promotion to Division III after they punted daisy’s mate Elite Jobby from the Division IV finals race by a solitary point in the Semi Final. If I had done tips for this league I would have selected Jobby to get the ahem, job done here as their scoring has been far more consistent than Herb’s has been but the jovial giant (Herb is about 6 foot 8 in the old money) stood tall in the Semi Final and he has now been promoted for the second year in a row.

In the other semi Woolballs also got promoted after they cleaned up Chokin Tuna in their Semi Final. I played against Chokin Tuna, my brother in law in my family league and I reckon he ran out of trades a few weeks ago. He had Seedsman, Sicily and Smith in the backline and he also relied on Ahern and Tim Kelly on the field as well. Tuna burnt their trades and this is always a recipe for coming up short in August.

Promoted teams to Division III are Hawkers, The Willies, Woolballs and Herbs’N’Spices.
