the more and more I think about it, the more I think we should take Walsh with the no 1 pick.

I think we then need to trade in another mid that either isn't getting a gig in a good second's team or one that needs a fresh start elsewhere. Hannebury or someone like that.

i think if we brought Lukoscious in, we'd have to move Curnow or McKay deep, whilst jettisoning Levi to the VFL permanently.

Our other issue is ruck. We obviously can't rely on Kruezer being a Jacobs and getting 22 games a year from him. Kruezer could be the tall third depending on what we can do something with that position during trade time.

Then another concern is a small forward. Pickett, Garlett and Wright aren't quite up to it IMO. Time may tell but if a Rankine was available you'd obvioulsy look at him.

Totally agree. Blues will take Walsh at pick 1. The pick won’t be traded unless something massive is offered.

Will Lukosios be a genuine superstar, or will he be another Sam Durdin? In recent years most of the tall forwards who have dominated at U18's and been high draft picks haven't really set the world on fire - Schache, McCartin, Boyd, Patton etc

He reminds me of Jack Watts. Similar build and skill sets.
Hope he turns out a better player?

Yep, someone like him would be a good addition.

I also think instead of picking a kid with pick 50 odd we need a Fasolo or Lloyd (Rich) to add some small man depth to our forward line immediately. The reasoning is that generally a pick 50 would not be ready to play senior football on a half forward line that deep into the draft.

Priorities - mids, <daylight>...... then small forwards

Good scouts can identify rough diamonds at pick 50 and onward.
They come reasonably cheap to.

Yeah fair enough makes sense. Hall is a reasonable player and out of contract. Ellis-Yollman from the crows is another big bodied mid who is out of contract. Might me one worth a look. Would give Cripps a hand at least.

But what you don't want is too many O'Shea and Wright types of players. They are just list cloggers.

Hmmm that would be interesting. Keath does look the part down back. But I would have thought Carlton would be looking for a more established player as part of the package if they were to part with pick 1.

Yeh, I agree, however they have added depth where we had none! They didn't cost us much thankfully. I think both were delisted (without doing any research). They are 'point in time' players. Players we need to use to get games into our kids. So I don't mind bringing them in knowing full well they (Mullett, O'Shea, Kerridge) aren't part of the long term future.

Our depth before approximately the Kerridge pick was non existent. We had the worst list in the league with zero depth. Hence SOS bringing in 4 players for one draft pick from GWS.

I dont rate Lloyd and never have, but he's probably exactly the type you should be looking at, provided you don't pay overs

That has been one of our strong attributes recently, paying overs for spuds.

May and Gaff to Carlton, Carlton give up early picks to GC and Adelaide, McGovern to West Coast. Plus a shuffling of 2nd rounders and/or fringies between the 4 clubs.

How much do the Crows want Lukosius? Which will mean giving up a fair bit. They won’t, so he won’t be there
