Missus and myself used the Scoupon deal at the Holdy today, food was excellent. Definitely be grabbing more of those if they become available again.

It seems like awesome value, the Holdy was one of our go to pubs for pub meals when I lived down south with the kids and ex. Always stopped in there before games at the Bay and even bought a carton there once at 3/4 time which I sold in the oval as the footy club had run out of beer. Good times! :D

Always been a good pub imho. Some of the other (non-voucher) meals that were coming out looked awesome too.

I'm using the brekky voucher on Sunday morning with the wife and kids.
We've eaten there many a times for dinner but never for brekky.

Hopefully the brekky is just as good as their other meals.

I've got the dinner voucher still to use as well.

We did it two weeks ago.

Meals were OK, schnittys were on the soggy side, i.e. oil didn't seem hot enough when they were cooked. Had the same with Holdy previously when I ordered a pizza there - oven not hot enough.

but for $35 (4 x schnitties and 4 x beers) can't complain too much.

6/10

Did the Parma for a Farmer at the Grand Bar

$76.50 for three schnitty parmies.

Chips were thick cut spuds - almost wedges like but under the Parmy (boo) but were a nice change from the normal pub chips. Plenty of salad but you dont win friends with it.

Not worth $76.50 IMO but with $15 going to drought relief cant complain relaly.

6/10 (better quality than then Holdy but different orbit re price...)

Showed Mst 15 and Miss 13 the stamping ground they may be frequenting in 5 years time (not before hopefully for the Miss [-o< [-o< )....

Did you take them to the back bar to see the turf they might be playing in 40 years?

Located on the first level, we sat on the veranda overlooking Southbank with the lit up buildings over the water creating a great atmosphere. Cafe blinds & heaters kept us comfortable.
All of us opted for “The Greek Feast” @ $59 p/person
Homemade dips & dolmades came out first, followed by the pan fried saganaki (divine) & crispy calamari.
A few more Mythos, not a bad beer and the chargrilled meat platters came out.
MY-F#CKING-GOD!
Chicken, pork & lamb gyros, loukanika, lamb koftas & bifteki served with sides of Greek style chips, salad & dessert.
The meat was nothing short of spectacular. Cooked perfectly & plenty of it. Washed down with more Mythos & a few bottles of red and it was a fantastic night. The service was friendly & efficient.
Highly recommend if you’re heading over the border.

Service 9/10
Food 9.5/10
Value 9.5/10

I'm booked in for Friday night. This joint better be bloody good ;)

Went to this joint Friday night and thought the food was quite ordinary. Bit disappointing especially after being pumped up to go after Spargos review. Don't get me wrong, it was ok, but not somewhere I'd rave about. The staff were very good though.
Maybe it's just me though. Ross Noble sat on the table next to us though and he seemed to enjoy it.

Used the brekky scoopon deal this morning.
Wasn’t expecting too much for a pub brekky and the price.

It was bloody good though.
Missus and I both had the big brekky and a coffee each.
Both happy with our meals and the coffee.
Son had the ham and cheese crossiant which was massive and my daughter had the Belgian waffles with fruit.
Both had juices for their drinks.

Food 8/10
Service 8/10

Value 10/10 given it only cost $35 for the voucher.
Total cost of our meals and drinks was $83 if we didn’t have the voucher.

Highly recommend it for brekky.
Now I just have to use the dinner voucher there.

Henley Hotel for lunch

Surprisingly busy, until I read the pensioner lunch special on the menu.

Had beer battered fish and chups, not bad by any means, pre-cut bought in chips but they were tasty, handful of salad. Was $24, would not eat there again if I had to pay, thanks mum.

Special was good, waiters/staff rushing around anywhere.

Beer was cold

5.5/10

House of Chow

How overrated is that place!

We waited a long time for orders to be taken, but the food came out quite quickly afterwards. A few trainees working, so the ordering process was pretty confusing.

After we'd ordered four individual meals, they asked us which ones we're sharing.....(I blame SAFooty).

The meals were minuscule. I got the Shanghai Duck. It was basically a small duck schnitty with gravy. No sides. No veggies. $25.50.

Mrs HH3 got the BBQ Duck, which was basically bone with a little bit of duck hanging off it.

The fried rice we shared between four was pretty bland. Could be the most underwhelming rice I've had.

I paid for three meals and two drinks.

$108.

Won't be back. So many better Chinese restaurants to go to.

Used the Holdy meal deal last night,

For $35 it is certainly worth it, Snitty's were sound, although my Parmi was only luke warm, 11yo had the Beef/Bacon Burger and it was pretty good.

Made the mistake of ordering 2 Asahi's and 2 Lemonade's for the drinks, only to get keen for another 2 Asahi's so paid for them.

As I said wasn't outstanding but solid and for $35 you can't go wrong. With the Hand Brake currently working full time it was a nice cheap/easy option for dinner that keep her happy, another plus!

I remember with great fondness, the days of the OLD House of Chow, it was our local chinese joint.

Once a week or so, mum would send me around the corner to order a large special fried rice with $2.50.

Was very sad when they tore it down and swore I'd never eat at the new location, in protest.
