There are more AFL accredited journalists than there are AFL footballers. They have to do something to be seen/read/heard.

I saw some of the game on tv, what were the Crows fans booing at?

Umpiring, same as every other week. Embarrassing to be in that crowd sometimes. Thought number 10 was going to get lynched after he didn't pay an off the ball free to Betts then paid the deliberate seconds later in the last few minutes.

I can only remember 1 dodgy decision against the crows and maybe 2-3 for the crows, but thought the umpiring was largely forgettable, just like the rest of the game

Only frustrating thing to me is the league wide decision to not pay dropping the ball anymore. Apart from that the umpiring was fine.

But to the people around me, different story. The "hit" on Doedee was the funniest one. Was the worst thing ever, should be weeks for a guy protecting himself from someone running at him 100 miles an hour.

Ouch - what was the damage there?

We opted for a 3 game membership, between Umpiring, watching my daughters games, games in Tassie & getting back to SA (not very often) to see my Son play, it seemed the best option. Plus the chance of the odd corporate gig. If the Hawks get an MCG final it will be interesting to see how I will get on getting a ticket. Will give it a crack though.

2018 AFL Season

Postby bennymacca » Mon Aug 20, 2018 3:29 pm

Not 100% sure of the numbers as I just pay my mate who organises it, but I think the standard season ticket was $340 or so for a seat near the hill (Sunday was the first time I sat in my seat all year, usually stand on the hill) which was the cheapest non GA ticket, and then $145 I think for the gold upgrade

So $500 for the season give or take and say 11 home games - $45 a game. Not so bad really.

Yep - I often said that about my golf club membership. The golf was the cheap bit, its the 19th hole that kills you.

Did they lose players to injury or just not good enough?

I thought they were a lock for finals?
