What pick is that?

Pick 19 and some exchanging of later picks. Love how the Crows want nothing less than pick 1 for a bloke with massive potential who to date has had many injuries in a short career.

At least you know what you are getting with McGovern, Lukosis is still a bit unknown

Look at Schache, number 1 pick, meant to be a superstar and he is meh

Schache was pick 2. Weitering was pick 1

RORY SLOANE
It looked pretty likely that he was going to leave at the end of the season only to surprisingly sign a 5 year deal. Now, he's a loyal character and would be wanting the Crows to get the best possible deal for the club he loves knowing at the end of the year that he would request a trade. Talks behind the scenes begin between Adelaide and StKilda, a deal is forged where StKilda give Adelaide their 1st and 2nd round picks to get it done. As McGovern has shown, contracts dont mean jack anymore and after what I believe may have happened last weekend with him missing the game may make the go home factor even more prevalent, for both of them.
That would mean a glut of picks in the top 10 and a load up on SA talent and maybe stealing a ruckman from somewhere

If Gibbs was worth picks 10 and 16 then Sloane is worth the same. No way he goes for a 1st and a 2nd.

Crows will want way more than pick 19 for McGovern but I cant see Carlton giving up pick 1- unless they swap pick 1 with the Suns picks 2 and 3 then on trade pick 3 for McGovern. ALL SPECULATION OF COURSE.

Of course, he may request to go somewhere else which throws all our trade theories in the bin.

I don't think Carlton (or Bolton) have the time up their sleeve to roll the dice with another kid in the draft, they are hopeless at identifying talent and their best bet IMO would be to load up on proven talent with 50+ gamers that want out of their current club.

You can't have a 10 year rebuild, the draft is designed to lessen the gap between the top and the bottom clubs but Carlton are continually finding themselves way south of the equator.

Grab some 20+ year olds, win 8-10 games for a season or two and then filter in some of the top 10 draft picks after that where they aren't chucked in the deep end and relied upon immediately, build the spine and work it form there.

If he goes to Carlton it must be on a HEAP of coin considering they are a woeful club. Tex is probably practicing his abusive phone call as we speak.

All I can say is stuff the finals, bring on the trade period.

Crows have been seriously dudded by this bloke.

He can't opt out without a trade
A trade will get done but it will be in the last minutes on the last day otherwise he's paying for adelaide next year

A bit of chatter around that he feels he was duped into signing a lesser contract than what he could have had, and perhaps not all dealings were truthful. Gotta be some bad blood to want out only 1 year into a deal.

surely every club does this in some way? if you can get a player cheaper than what they think that they are worth then more fool them and thats what player managers are for.

Lets say the Crows said we dont have anymore money to be able to offer you and he took it, thats his choice. Even if they used this money to secure Gibbs, Sloane, Lynch, Laird and Mackay this season its not a lie is it? they needed that money to retain these signatures. The club would me more of a basket case if they overspent on MM and then had to let one of these go.

Charlie Cameron still went last year. I wouldn't be surprised if McGovern would rather not attend.

The Crows need to handle this period well and not be small minded about it. Hard when Nigel Smart and Brett Burton are involved.

Even if you are completely pissed off at your club and they have treated you like shit, which I don't believe is the case here. Wanting a move to Carlton is almost self-destructive behavior.

If McGovin names Carlton as his team, Adelaide should get the AFLPA involved to assess his current state of mind and do a welfare check on him.

If he’s getting an extra 200k a year to go why wouldn’t he?

Don’t know too many people that would turn down an extra million dollars over the next 5 years, no matter how much he is on now.
