If McGovin names Carlton as his team, Adelaide should get the AFLPA involved to assess his current state of mind and do a welfare check on him.

Just putting this out there

If someone, from any club or business , just continues to be told you are worth more even if you are not, do you believe them?

His manager must have been ok with the contract offer as he signed only 12 months ago. Perhaps seeing his brother earn more as he is a better player has given him an inflated opinion of his own ability

Haha

Some people just live money and will do whatever they can to get it.

If he’s getting an extra 200k a year to go why wouldn’t he?

Don’t know too many people that would turn down an extra million dollars over the next 5 years, no matter how much he is on now.

Somewhat agree but he just signed a contract

If the draft was not meant to be that good I wonder if the Crows would just say ‘no way’

I was of the belief that he was told the piggy bank was bare so he settled on that and then days later they found another piggy bank to get Gibbs over, that's where he got his nose put out of joint, the implosion of the Collective Minds saga wouldn't have helped, they were a fair basket case for a while there and there's a lot none of us will ever know.

Really bad management by the crows if true but the time line from McGovern signing to Gibbs coming in includes Cameron and Lever going, they wanted to keep both so would have had their pays calculated in when they negotiated with McGovern. CC and JL leave, frees up money for Gibbs?

Piggy bank was bare until Cameron and Lever went. Had they both stayed there would be no Gibbs at Adelaide

Apparently Gibbs is on less than McGovern. Not sure how much the adds or takes away from the story though.

McClure now saying Carlton will get a middle of first round priority pick (11 or 12) and get McGovern with that.
He also believes the Saints will get an end of first round PP which they will get Hannebery with

So Adelaide might have 7,11*,14,19*

They'll be live trading to get Lukocius for sure.

It'd be pick 12 with the Suns getting pick 3 as Compo for Lynch.

What will GC want for pick 2 then? 7,11 & 14? Carlton won't take Lukocius with pick 1 especially if they have McGovern.

They're not giving up three picks in the top 14 for pick 2

7 and 14 plus potentially swaps down the order for pick 2 could be worth it though.

Carlton will use pick 1 on Sam Walsh
Suns can do what they want with picks 2 and 3. I would think they'd give up pick 3 but not pick 2.

With McGovern out the door, Jenkins 30 in February, Walker 29 in April and Fogarty a relative unknown quantity they will be ( and are ) desperate to get Lukocius and my bet is they'll pay overs with picks to get him.

Going by recent draft form the Suns will probably use pick 3 for a player they already have on their list.

Suns ain’t trading away 2 and 3. By getting rid of Barlow they have made their intentions clear. They are starting from scratch and will build through the draft
