Port: Polec 'less likely to stay'
Port Adelaide is resigned to losing star wingman Jared Polec.

Speaking on Wednesday morning, Power footy boss Chris Davies said it wasn't look good on Polec – who is the subject of a lucrative long-term deal from North Melbourne.

"We had our exit meeting with Jared yesterday and he hasn’t told us of a decision yet, but we are realistic and we know the longer this goes the less likely he is to stay."

How would Port use Lycett? or is it insurance for now and take over when Ryder retires?

We wouldn't be waiting for Ryder to retire, Lycett would be getting offered the lead ruck role, Ryder then playing deep forward and Dixon higher up the ground. Ryder chopping out for Lycett.

Interesting to hear Rowey on 5AA breakfast this morning talking about emails and SMSs they are getting about Hinkley and how there is genuine hate for him amongst Port people.

Probably the same ones who are saying Frampton should have been playing all year.

There was a caller after the games saying how ordinary Frampton had been all year in the SANFL and he had been to all the Magpies game all year. Next breathewas he should have played the last 4 weeks

So using hindsight you believe Frampton would have made a difference in the last 2 minutes against Adelaide and the last 30 seconds against West Coast? That's some of the best work ever done on here.

Wrong. Frampton in my opinion showed exactly why he was overlooked during Ryder's absence.

Heaps of Port supporters have carried on saying how good his debut is, and good on him he had 7 disposals, took a few good contested marks and kicked a goal.

That's swell if he was selected as a forward pocket, but it's certainly not good enough as a ruckman.

Fact is, he was absolutely smashed in the ruck from Leuenberger early in the game - and even beaten at times by Jake Stringer in the 3rd term when Leuenberger was off the ground.

Ended up playing 80% game time, and would've spent a good 75% of that up forward, with Ryder in the ruck pretty much the whole time. He lacked the strength to compete, and at times I thought he lacked a bit of awareness. Port were smashed early in the hitouts to advantage and clearances, 10 scoring shots and 6 goals in the first quarter by the Bombers told the story and game was as good as over.

With Ryder injured, he would not have been a better option than Dixon, Westhoff or Howard doing the main duties - at best he probably could've played as a tall forward to release one of those into the ruck.. but there are both better forward and back options at the moment.

He will be a good sort, but he needs to bulk up a lot more.

What I'm saying is he would have had some games under his belt by now and can only improve, which would have allowed you to play your other players in their correct positions instead of blaming Ryders injury on missing the eight.

Best work... LOL

We all know ruckman take longer to develop so he was never going to make an impact in his first game.
I saw him play several games in the reserves where he was very inconsistent but showed enough to be picked earlier given Ryder’s injury.

Ken talks about playing brave footy maybe he should be brave and make some brave decisions before he no longer can............

Ken ‘all talk, no action’ Hinkley.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Don't know of anyone who blamed Ryders injury for missing the 8? Of course injuries to him, Marshall, Hartlett and Dixon hurt, but club was positioned well enough to still make it.. inability to be more efficient with F50 entries and inability to close out games when in control is what cost them.

Still don't think Frampton would've improved their chances in those games either.

Never blamed injuries, not sure anyone on here has.

Our inability to close out two games late in the year when the points were ours to take and slow ball movement from defence making it hard for our forwards to continually kick winning scores we have most certainly "blamed".
