Terrible news my heart goes out to the Sloane's.

A few outlets are starting to go with CEY requesting a trade.

Essendon, Carlton and Brisbane in the mix apparently.

Steak knives for the McGovern / High draft pick trade battle?

Yeah thank christ the media finally showed a shred of decency.

The Instagram post from Rory showing the baby and both parents holding his had was so sad.

I couldn't even imagine what they are going through at the moment. All in all it again shows us that football is just a game and there is so much more to life.

Question...
If lukosius says yep I'll go to Carlton but I'm coming home in 2 years wouldn't it be better to trade picks and take Walsh?
A better result for all surely.

If Carlton trade the #1 pick how would they get Walsh?

Carlton will draft Walsh with pick 1 anyway. It will be GC with pick 2 who will take Lukosius

Carlton would take Walsh with pick #1, and he won’t be there by their next pick (or the Crows pick if they traded for it)

Carlton would take Walsh with pick #1, and he won’t be there by their next pick (or the Crows pick if they traded for it)

If that's the case I'll reframe question.

Suns take Lukosius.........?

I assumed seeing how poor Carlton are they would take the best player available.

Given their midfield sucks and they have ok forwards it seems like a no Brainer they will take the best mid, especially if that mid would likely go pick 2 if it’s not pick 1.

They have one forward and a raft of young mids, I'm sure they'll take Walsh as he's a Victorian lad under their nose but they're mad ( and we all know they are ) if they pass up on Lukosius.

Even if they have McGovern in their sights they could play him across half back and strengthen their spine immeasurably with Lukosius at one and McGovern at the other.

I dunno, you’d have a lot more confidence in drafting a young midfield gun than KPP as the latter generally takes much longer to develop. In recent years Boyd, McCartin, Shache etc haven’t had anywhere near the impact as mids.

They've not been going down the path of immediate impact for 3 years, they've been selling a slow burn for a while and if they're serious about building something in 3-5 years then they go a KPP who has "once in a generation" tags on him.

Mad if they don't.

Patton and Boyd had similar tags, Watts went at #1 too .. Shallower drafts I know, but I reckon there would be some fear around taking a KPP with top 10 picks

Lukosius has been playing against men for over 12 months now. Kicked 4 in a final last year.
Would walk in to any AFL side tomorrow.
Carlton should pick the best player they can get and go after Gaff or similar as a mature mid.
