But still finished in the 8... What does that say about the sides who didn't make the 8???

No one is knocking their ability, it's their boring game plan that is forcing the AFL to mess with the rules.

It’s why Adam Goodes stood out so much. Was one of only a few in that Sydney squad that had any flair or attractiveness about his game.

That we are shit!
I’m not denying that but ask neutrals what they think of Sydney’s style and they will all say its rubbish. I know plenty of people that won’t even watch Sydney or Freo games because they are boring

Hawks vs swans games boring???
Swans vs Bombers games boring???
any Eagles vs Swans from the mid 2000's?????
We knocked of pretty much every side in the 8 except richmond i reckon...

We move the ball like any other team and apply massive amounts of pressure... Our scoring was restricted this year due to our forwards not doing their job

I would rather watch a high pressure game of footy and the score between 70-100 each side. Just my opinion...

I think most would rather goals than rugby scrums. Give me 130-100 than 70-60 anyday of the week.
The West Coast v Sydney GF’s were close but I didn’t enjoy them

Not sure on that, they're trying to sell a brand that has become boring, games of the 80's and 90's were far better to watch than todays games of chess.

Most entertaining game I've watched all season was the Brisbane vs Collingwood shootout.

Majority of Swans games I've watched in recent years (especially those at the SCG) have been dull, tedious encounters, even allowing for the tight margins in some instances.

Tonight showed that we don't need any more rules until we get the current ones umpired with some sort of consistency.

That’s exactly the point. Much harder to zone across the widest part of the ground

More of a concern than the look of the game is the amount of players running around that aren't up to the level. The AFL will never cull any teams from the comp so as drastic as it may be, reducing the game to 16 a side + 3 on the bench could have an immediate impact on what the AFL want to achieve with their 666 format. You could also reduce the quarters to 15min + time on to promote scoring and with reduced number of players and length of game they could incorporate a national reserves comp. Like I said drastic.

I like it. What the AFL seems to forget is it makes rules for the elite games in its own comp and doesnt give a thought to grassroots footy around the country. Much easier for grassroots teams to play with 19 than 22.
At the moment they play 22 games X 120mins = 2640m divide that by 34 is 77m. So lets reduce the games to 80mins and play 34 of them. 5 day breaks being the new benchmark. Complete the season in the same amount of weeks as now
There draw fixed, your welcome

18 metre goal square I don't get.
That's smacks of the broadcaster telling the game it wants more goals which equals more adds.
Or on fox more dribble from commentators.

With the right conditions and player, a kick out from full back has it landing in the 50 metre arc.

Id like Morrell to show me a graph that indicates where most of the kick ins go?
Gut feel says most of the time its a cheap kick to the pockets inside 35m.

With a 9m goal square the best torps reach as far as the centre, I don't think an extra 9m will get it to the forward 50 somehow

I think in the AFL’s fantasy world they still want guys to play on from the 18m square and then launch it on to the wing.
