Yay for Zampa! Now if he can just pick up another quick 8 wickets we might be a sniff.

I know you've got to have faith in your "specialist" bowlers, but surely at 2/199 if the quicks aren't working you'd try something new? Cooper or Lehmann perhaps? Who cares if they get pumped, the quicks are going around 9 RPO as it is.

3/240

Zampa 3/50

Only thing we can hope for is that the 'backs can drag this out another 9 overs and avoid giving up the bonus point.. but that's easier said than done.

QLD 3/281 (35.3 overs) defeat SA 280 (48.1 overs)

Zampa 3/58 (10 overs)
Lehmann 0/5 (1 overs)
Mennie 0/37 (5 overs)
Valente 0/55 (6 overs)
Sayers 0/57 (6.3 overs)
Richardson 0/69 (7 overs)

Only one QLD batsman failed to reach double figures (Burns 7 not out), while SA only had Cooper (139), Carey (42), Zampa (32) and Valente (11).

Absolutely pathetic performance.

Reckon they got selection wrong, probably needed two spinners. But have several issues:

1. They don't have a second spinner, should have kept Tom O'Connell as he would be playing! The options are not performing at Premier League level! They added Tom Andrews but he bowls pies, Cormack getting hammered as well as Pope, but may just have to play one of them.

2. Let Sayers rest up for Shield season in few weeks, they have been correct over last couple of years, he is useless with the white ball and after two overs is a liability. Send him home now and never play him in JLT again.

3. Too many batsmen are hit and miss, problem is they make one handy score and they survive for ever after that. Weatherald, Lehmann, Cooper all had one good innings, Ross and Ferg done nothing, and Carey the most consistent but has not gone on with it.

4. Think Valente getting found out also with no pace and really has not got a great slower ball, or variety like a Tye to bowl at the depth. Could add Mennie to this category also.

Overall, not great signs for the rest of this competition unfortunately!!

Positive is Zampa appears to be bowling really well. Richo been solid.

Richo 0/69 from 7 overs today, I watched the highlights and he was bowling like he did in the Big Bash, too short too often.

Since when has form earnt a spot?

The lad undoubtably has a ton of talent but probably rose too quickly as many do, the elite captains that the Aussie side has had over the years were all a result of extremely talented youths who got a crack on the big stage, got dropped and came back superstars.

Sayers needs to be rested same with joe. On small grounds sayers just gets pumped and joe is just in rubbish form bat and ball.

At least Andrews can bat aswell gives us more depth and bring in winter. He could end up like sayers but won’t be worse plus the left arm might change it up little.

Ferg to 4 jake to 5 cooper to 3
