On 8 October 2010, David Hale was traded to Hawthorn in exchange for a 1st round draft pick.

You are mixed up that he was a 1st round draft pick back in the day.

He was our 3rd ruckman behind McInotsh and Goldy back then, played a heap of VFL in 2010, was told he wasn't getting a contract for 2011, we ended up getting a trade for him.
