Start the ****ing car.
That can't be real. Come on 2 x first + Burton.

Come on.

Realistically, it's a bullsh*t rumour. Hawthorn are far too shrewd an organisation to make a trade like that.

However, if the footy gods kissed the collective hard-ons of the PAFC fraternity and Hawthorn succumbed to a moment of recklessness - PAFC, start the ****ing car.

Get the feeling Port will end up with Rankine, their trade period not looking bad

Not looking bad?
Lose Polec and Wingard for a kid that could be a star and a average ruckman?

Both players want to go .. Well armed with draft picks in a super draft and picked up a decent ruckman. Reckon that’s shaping up okay

Reckon Jim is on the money here. Polec is a good player now. Top 5 BnF, draft picks are always a risk.

I rate Lycett better than average however he is no star on his own.

Not sure whether it is going to be involved in the deal that nets us pick 3 or if it will be done separately. If seperate, GC only have 29 then 59. I rate him in between those 2 picks so not sure. I think it will have to be done in the deal with pick 3

Pick 10 and 11 plus Hombsch for pick 3?

Polec could have easily stayed with what was offered - If any player wants out, then provided you can get enough for them then move them along. That’s what happened with him and will happen with Wingiard too if the offer is right. Lycett is a more than competent ruckman yet to hit his peak years, Port won’t have to worry about the ruck position for several years. If Port can snag Rankine and still have a 1st rounder or better up their sleeve then they’re going ok imho.

All this talk about Lycett and Rankine etc.. but i'm yet to hear of Port addressing their biggest deficiency - a genuine outside midfielder and quality ball users.

Lose Polec and Wingard that's two of their more capable outside run, and bringing in Lycett and Rankine certainly doesn't solve that.. Now move Hombsch on and potentially lack another key back up defender and ready made footballer, as well as two draft picks which might net the Power a quick outside player.

Sorry i'm just really struggling to see what Ports angle is this trade period.

Rankine’s alright by foot isn’t he? He’s faster than anyone on the list too. Obviously no certainty to land him, but helps address those concerns somewhat if you can.

From an outsider it looks as though the club has conceded the next year or two and will load up on quality kids and challenge again a few years down the track.

Yeah, but he wont walk into their midfield or play on a wing - i'd think perhaps a high HFF, but who knows if he's got the tank yet to manage that.

I see Rankine as a similar type to Wingard - would be a like-type replacement IMO - who replaces Polec? Going to continue with Amon or Neade? Perhaps Snelling is ready to go. Who knows.

After apparently having the premiership window wide open, and now missing finals, cant imagine that sitting well with the Port members at all.

PAFC post Rd 23 2018 "Our new players are still learning our plans and taking time to gel, they'll be better next year with a season under the belt"

Fast forward two months and PAFC turn over half their side, and will need to rely on more new players.

Most members are fine usually as long as they are told the truth.
If Port came out and said yeah we are bottoming out but hitting the draft hard and building a list for when Wines etc are at their peak I’d think most would be fine. Members hate mixed messages.
If you are going down the rebuild path you may aswell do it properly and put guys like Boak, Ebert, Ryder on the table. Cash in on this years picks
