Trade + Draft Period 2018

Talk on the national game

I don’t think Rankine will be there at pick 6, Rozee is a maybe.

I would think the crows would be trying to get up the draft picks. Not sure Suns and Saints will part with their picks. Freo will get Brisbane’s pick 5 for Neale with that pick going to Melbourne for Hogan. The live trading on draft night could be interesting

Rankine more of a chance than Rozee at 6 I think, few clubs might be questioning Rankine's temper.

Doesn't just want to return to Melbourne but back to Collingwood, acting like a spoilt brat who has always got what he wants, hope Brisbane play hardball on this one.

Giving away the 20's suggests to me Hombsch might be off to GC for 26 or 29 OR we know Wingard is on the way out and we'll end up with potentially 3 in the top 10 plus Hombsch/Amon crumbs.

I like having 6 and 10, but we've given up Polec, Pittard + $200k, 11, 23, 30 and 49 to get it.

Even if that's true, doesn't mean we should pay massive overs to get pick 6.

Back to back bad trades for us.

If you'd told me we'd end up with 6 and 10 I'd be stoked, but not at the price we've paid.

Keeping 23 and/or 30 would balance it up.

You guys are certainly making trade week more interesting, going to be fascinating to see where this all ends up.

My concern is giving away picks in the 20's & 30's - with a strong draft there is going to be some quality kids in this area this year.

St Kilda has just unveiled its newest recruit – Billy Slater.

The Melbourne Storm legend, who retired last month after the NRL Grand Final, will take on a leadership and mentoring role at the Saints.

He admitted today he had admired AFL players, including friends and Melbourne players who trained at AAMI Park next to Storm, but hadn't picked a team to support – until now.

"I want to bring success to this football club," Slater said.

"The first thing in any good leader is you need to be hard-working – probably the hardest-working in the organisation – and you need to be consistent. They were the two things I always tried to uphold."

Just for something different I disagree

Collingwood was excellent in letting him go to Brisbane because his dad was sick/dying. Now there is another personal issue back in Melbourne and needs to come back he feels he owes Collingwood. I get that

Every club would be confident of getting that out of him. However, we all know that short fuses get targeted and it requires exceptional ability to overcome it.

Saw a picture of him earlier in the Collingwood rooms after the prelim with a Pies polo on & high-fiving Bucks. No one thought anything of it at the time....
