Maxwell has been fielding and Starc is having hamstring issues too.

Lead of 527 now, grinding us into the dirt more and more. Surely they've batted long enough.

I wouldn't have, serves ourselves right, we are an embarrassment to anyone that's worn a baggy green for the past 30 years.

S.Marsh 2018: 317 @ 24.38 with a HS of 156, take that out and he's averaged 12.38.
2017: 440 @ 33.85 with a HS of 126*, take that out and he's averaged 24.15.

Wow, go you good thing.

Have we heard how Uz's knee is yet? If he's out of action for the summer were in more trouble than ever.

Potentially 3 of our best 3 bats done - Uz, Smith & Warner
We have 4 World Class quicks, only Starc is currently "match" fit. Pattinson, Hazelwood & Cummins all on the comeback trail.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

He is just.... He's our best bowler when going I think. People forget how good he is/was

He's just about a better "all rounder" option than M Marsh. Paine would need to go to 6 though.

Uz out for at least 8 weeks apparently. Likely to miss India test series.

Renshaw in & Finch to middle order would be my first change.

I would keep Finch opening, no need to change something that has worked, Renshaw to join him.

First test team

Finch
Renshaw
anyone but a Marsh
anyone but a Marsh
anyone but a Marsh
anyone but a Marsh
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Hazlewood
Lyon
Dave Warner will be missed!

Maxwell no chance of a return?

I'm keen for Head & Labuschagne to remain in the middle order, not really many (if any) other players who have been consistent over the last couple years - maybe Marcus Harris from VIC? Hilton Cartwright a chance to replace Mitch as all-rounder?

God knows, really is stuff all depth at the moment.

Agree on Finch, one thing that has worked
Well some options you have for 3-6-
Head
Labuschage, both in already in the team obviously

Maxwell
Pucovski
Handscomb
Furguson
Lehmann
Doolan
Hughes (but he's an opener)
Patterson
Stoinis as an allrounder

Maxwell is the only definite for the 3-6 slots for me. Really 6 is probably where a player like him should be playing but I'm stumped if I can pick the other 3. Probably Head given he made 72 in Dubai, although I think he's still a few Shield centuries off test cricket.

How does this Aust team compare to the Aust team for the 1st Test v England in 1978 when WSC tore the team apart?

G Wood v U Kawahja
G Cosier v A Finch
P Toohey v S Marsh
G Yallop v M Marsh
K Hughes v T Head
T Laughlin v M Labuschagne
J Maclean v T Paine
B Yardley v N Lyon
R Hogg v M Starc
A Hurst v P Siddle
J Higgs v J Holland

This current series v Pakistan , there has only been 2 scores over 30  (Head 73 & 37) from the 16 innings played by Australias Nos 3 - 6 Batsmen
