I had even been given the OK from Mrs Jase to go... :(

Had a lunch tee slot, due to work in the morning.

Weather was quite pleasant.

Had some confidence as on tuesday I hit them nicely.

But it didnt seem to continue into yesty. Ball striking was ok, without being fantastic or horrid. But the greens were just diabolical, still showing signs of the coring, balls were bouncing everywhere.....and the 9th (our 18th) was just like a heavy 10 morphettville without the water.....never seen a ball stop on a downward slope on a downhill putt....

So walked out with a 92 and 29pts, not too disappointed, but then you see some of the scores coming in at Nett 66s etc, makes my 79 look hacker-like.

A mate of mine playing in the McCracken 2 day event.
He had never seen the course. Plays off 17, may have been 18 down there with slope rating etc..
Had an 88 off the stick......39pts

Port Hughes over the long weekend, on the Friday my mates hadn't arrived yet but wives were up there so that kept the Mrs busy and all the other kids had companions except for my 11yo so made the executive decision to go have a hit and book a buggy to entice the youngster.

Windy AF with a big Southerly, most holes run North/South so you are either with it or against it most of the time, 1st tee I sky the driver 50m up and 20m forward into long grass at the front of the tee block *&^%!. Nail the 2nd hybrid, put a 7iron onto the green, 2 putts and walk off with a par, thankyou wind :)

Anyway had a great day with the young lad, got around in 3 hours, he had a few hits and for his first time went well and really enjoyed it. Shot a 97 which was OK as I was rusty and the conditions were pretty brutal.

Sunday arrived and we teed it up around 11am and while the wind was up again it was only half the strength of Friday, had an awesome time, although got stuck behind a bucks show for the last 5 holes, they were funny but ******* hopeless and slow! Shot a 93, putting was woeful and easily left 6-7 shots on the greens. Got back to the Shack, some soothing beers on the deck then did the 3 min walk to the tavern with the families for an awesome seafood platter and a $24 mega jug (1.7l) of Super Dry while the sun was setting over the bay. Back to the shack/deck and drank to midnight talking shit etc.

Course in good nick as usual, just remember what pin you are hitting to on each 9, mate of mine was bragging about his pitch to 1 foot of the black pin, only for us to remind him we are going to the red pin which was 25m away :)

Annual golf trip this coming weekend - this year it’s here & we’re staying at Pt Elliot.
Friday South Lakes, Saturday McCracken & Sunday is Victor Harbor.

Big weekend just gone, BIG!
South Lakes on Friday, pretty well straight up & down, open fairways with minimal rough. Excellent Ambrose course, our group had 4 under & actually won the day. The greens were very very good.
Saturday at McCracken. I love this course, always have. It was the greenest I’d seen it. Started with 3 wipes in the first six holes, eight points at the turn & nearly retired to the bar. Gave myself a talking to & had 22 coming home. Missed 7 putts under 5 foot.
Victor Harbor on Sunday - it too was in good nick & was challenging.
Complete opposite to the previous day, I had 13 pts after 5, then tired for a 30.
Great weekend with lads, far too much beer & red wine but that in part is what it’s about.

First round for a while tomorrow up at Sandy Creek...

Have decided that because my putting sucks so much I am going to have a crack with the pencil/claw grip tomorrow...

My putting can't get any worse so hopefully it might actually help a bit... :)

Perfect conditions. Breeze a tad chilly.
Greens still a tad slow. Fairways nice and lush.
Hit most shots where they were intended. Still managed to get those lovely lies in a ditch with weeds at the back and front of the ball...
Only real blemish was the 16th. Pushed my 3w into the hazard on the right and had no shot, so had to play an unplayable.

Had a pair of 43s.

Much better than last week and actually felt like I can play the game (albeit limited).

Now for the beers

Well I don't know why I haven't tried the pencil grip before but it was great... Had compete confidence in my putting stoke, only missed one short putt, but that was just me being stupid not the putting itself...

Could not read the pace of the greens but what ever line I wanted to putt the ball onto was spot on... Really happy with it, still had 35 putts but was confident...

Driving was good, fairway work solid but within 50 yards of the green was horrendous...

33 points on a blustery day was happy with that... Daily HC was 13 and was 2 shots less than the last game...

Just need to play more...
