Toumpas is an interesting one.
He looked a genuine readymade footballer when he got drafted, then went backwards at a rapid rate.
Was it the development at Melbourne or Port?
Or is it he can't play against men?

Some people just cant take that next step up I guess. He still looks pretty comfortable at SANFL level, but never really looked likely at AFL.

Stand out junior, agreed, looked ready made for AFL football but he just doesn't think or act fast enough in the modern game to make it. He lacks awareness and speed of mind.

Played some solid, without being spectacular football with the Magpies this year playing really under sized in the back half. I think he could still be very effective at SANFL level with another side.

Melbourne got lots of recruiting targets wrong around the time he was drafted.

He has a fair point. He is still better than plenty of others. Age and his asking price was beyond us though

Gavin Wanganeen could still be playing but a man has to know his limitations and realize what lies ahead.

If Goddard plays off of scratch, I find it staggering that he is not pursuing the pro-ranks already.

Scratch doesn't cut it in the pros, need to be at least +4 to have any hope

Yep, I think the sooner we realise that guys like him are better than pick 80, we'll be better off as a code.

No, we have no need for him (Thomas and Simpson at half back) but I'm surprised he got delisted because I thought Essendon could do with him. St Kilda and the Suns would be another candidate.

I don't think we keep the old guys around long enough and hence we complain about teams not having depth. You could list him for base wage and then it's up to him whether he takes it and plays ressies for half the season whilst developing younger guy on your list.

That was sort of my point, worst team in the league won’t take him so why would anyone else?

We have a stack of up and coming defenders who need to play next season and he would slow their development.
