Still fancy Smithfield as the sleeping giant - on the weekend they gave a glimpse of what can happen when one of their natural talents fire... still just need that one extra bowler.

How did Buckby bowl against you guys?

The kid looked like he could have a bit of heat behind him when I seen him bowl a few years ago.

couldn't get his run up correct until he switched ends later in the day. had a bit of pace to him. johnny owen and ray bickle were superb. ray played a great supporting role to john. if we held our catches it could of been a different story but hey that's cricket.

Have the rules changed to allow you to sub two players out between weeks opposed to just the one week 1/week 2 player?

Reckon you may have ripped Rackebrandt off - would think he'd have 6 or 7 votes along with Channa.

Rd 1: 3/16 off 8 overs, 2/37 off 12 and 22 in the 2nd innings vs Craigmore - may possibly get one vote.
Rd 2: 6/10 and 38 vs Smithfield - 3 votes
Rd 3: 2/37 off 15 overs and 33 batting at 9 when side was 7/103, basically got us over the line - 3 votes.

Channa
Rd 1: 5/32 and 1/25 & 19 and 27 vs Craigmore - 3 votes
Rd 2: 51 vs Smithfield - 2 votes
Rd 3: 3/8 off 7 overs and 23 vs Eyre Royals - 1 vote

R1:
3: Channa 5/32, 19 (2nd top score), 1/25, 27 (2nd top score)
2: A.Crossley 0, 5/37, 14, 0/19
1: N.Crossley 25, 70*(2nd dig).

Tough one I guess, A.Crossley got them back in the game with a timely 5 fa and kept you guys to a lowish total, N.Crossley gave them a glimmer of hope.

R2:
3: Rackebrandt.
2: I went J.Hughes for his tidy figures in both digs
1: Went you with a very tidy 4fa

I will change them if you think, was gonna get your opinion.

It's certainly a tough one, I would've had A Crossley definitely 2 votes, but only reason overlooked N Crossley was that they lost the game.

Can see your reasoning with the votes though. Hughes cleaned up a weak tail. Mine were 2nd innings wickets, I tend to always feel like the 2nd innings shouldn't count for as much haha

Louis Pretorius from North Pines would have to be around the mark too, some very tidy spells of bowling.. but then again who knows what the umpires think.

I sent you a photo of the votes that I've given.

I generally find the way the umpires think is of the following criteria as they write the top 2 or 3 batting and bowling performances of each innings.

1: 80% of the time the 3 points come from the winning team unless it was a close game and there was a standout for the losing team, if this is the case the winning team will end up with the 2 and the 1.

2: First innings holds a lot more creed unless the game goes 4 innings and there is an outright result then it's an even playing field, if there is only 3 innings the 3rd innings holds little significance unless a team is fighting off an outright loss after getting whooped in the first dig and someone produces something special.

3: If you give them shit, you wont get votes.

4: If your surname is Ozolins you need to score a triple century and take an 8fa to secure 3 votes.

Pretorious was possibly ripped off in round 2, two 4fa's, the second lot was a dead rubber, got pipped by Thomas' 72 & 1/9, Lubcke's 66 & 3fa and Freeman's 69 and 2fa.

Weighted votes for 1st Innings runs/wickets V's 2nd Innings runs/wickets?

IMO should be 70/30

Love your votes and reckon you will be very close to getting it right.

Imo speaking to a few umpires I have no doubt 'personality' is used as a bit of a tie breaker when two players performance cant be separated. Rightfully or wrongly.

Absloutely, it's a life rule too, if someone is being a knob when I'm umpiring footy there's no chance of getting a vote.

I've actually tried taking that into consideration when doing the votes on here, I know most players although I'm all at sea with the Knights & Earwigs.
