Imo speaking to a few umpires I have no doubt 'personality' is used as a bit of a tie breaker when two players performance cant be separated. Rightfully or wrongly.

Absloutely, it's a life rule too, if someone is being a knob when I'm umpiring footy there's no chance of getting a vote.

I've actually tried taking that into consideration when doing the votes on here, I know most players although I'm all at sea with the Knights & Earwigs.

Enfield: Rackebrandt & Channa are very nice blokes, respectful and quiet spoken... McEwan is a ******* pest, and I don't think I've had much positive feedback to umpires during games this year so rule us out.

Think some of my most constructive piece of feedback came against Smithfield when an LBW appeal against Lowie was turned down, asked what it was missing and Pete Turnbull replied with "Not telling".. fair to say I was happy enough to tell him my thoughts

Couple balls later bowled him anyway, thanks for coming champ. :P

McEwan has always had to cope with only possessing half a brain, I remember him as a teenager going to Glenelg with a group of lads and was dared him to jump off the jetty into the shallow water, so he did and broke his ankle/leg.

He was a good lad around me though, I took him under my wing and gave him some opportunities with his cricket, bowled him in the seniors when I knew he'd take wickets and chucked him up the order when I knew he'd benefit from it, had him opening the bowling in the B's before too long when he was still a kid.

Gee, you mention the word "forum medal" and the batsmen begin to dig deep, my man Pogas is on track for 3 votes to get his nose in front if other players don't perform.

An 8fa for Nathan Warren as Virginia were decimated by a wedding, lucky Mr Reliable stood up, didn't really need any fieldsman either as only Johnny's brother took a catch, the rest of the wickets were unassisted.

Dublin 244 vs Virginia 1/37
Westies 161 vs Parkers 0/0
Vale 9/244 vs Craigmore DNB
Riverside 2/264 vs PGCC DNB

Virginia to chase down Dublin's total, Lay to ton up with 50's to Secca's & Bas.
Eastern Park to get the chocolates 4 down then to get up by around 100.
Craigmore to fall 20 short.
Riverside to win by 30.

F*** me, Riverside's Sam Robinson must've bought the Barry Dowling batting DVD, batted for 70 overs for 102 not out.

Not sure how Karbeethan is nowadays but you'd think 244 is reachable with their bowling attack, do the Gardens have the ticker to chase down a reasonable total though? They definitely have to batting list to do so.

Don't you need a minimum 7 to play?

Actually, this is only somewhat true.

At 12:45pm, none of the Riverside boys were there, so our skipper called their club contact in case they went to the wrong ground.

At 1pm, there were only 4 or 5 players there, so there was a mutual agreement that we'd start at 1:30pm.

They started the game with 8 players at 1:29pm, and a ninth came soon after.

Wouldn't it have been better to just let them bat first if they were undermanned? Could've had an outright inside a day and a week off.

Perhaps, but wouldn't that be at the disadvantage of the blokes who are committed?

They had us 7/106 at one stage.

As opposed to Riverside forfeiting and not getting a game at all?

Perhaps I didn't phrase my last post correctly; I was actually referring to their blokes. You wouldn't want to deny their regulars a regular game.

You could of had them all out for 30, scored 100 odd and sent them in again.

All good though, it is very inviting to have a hit when there's bugger all fielders, get a couple of blokes amongst the runs.
