We already have 2 kids selected in the first round, potentially just accepted a gift for a top 5 draft pick next season for pick 19 and then just downgraded 4 spots to get ourselves a 2nd round selection for a 5th round selection in 2019. We then just selected another kid in the top 30.

Unless there was a kid we specifically wanted that was still available, the difference in quality of player 20-30 in this draft is very minimal.

I'm not unhappy at all

I don't think anyone could be unhappy with it, but I understand the "slight" confusion given the talk of how strong this draft is.

For instance, if you get pick 4 next year is that guy better than pick 19 this year? You'd think so but again, it's 5 years before we know.

I guess you had to weight up, 3 first rounders this year ( 8,13,19 ) or two 8,13 and then another 2 ( ? and ? ) next year.....

It would have to be considered a super, super draft for a late teen pick to be equal or better than a top 5 pick the following season.

19 this year and say 12 next year, is approx. the same as 3 next year.

Crows will be hoping their pick they give up slips lower than 12 and Carlton's rises above 3.

There's not a lot in it either way for mine.

A deal for a player for 2 first rounders must be in their thinking.

You do wonder if their plan is to stay well armed with draft picks in the hope they can nab one of those GC boys over the next coupla seasons

BINGO! Crows have rolled the dice and IF they get a top 2-3 pick how much do you want to bet that is used to get at least one of those boys to come home in 12 months as a part of a package.

Gold Coast will be going all out to lock those lads into more than the initial 2 year deal they will sign this week.

There is clear evidence that contract's aren't worth the paper they are written on, so how will extending their contracts prevent the exodus?
