Surprisingly for the first time in awhile there are real no surprise selections.

No matter how good people think he is IMO Chris Tremain deserves his selection in the squad because he has had consistently good numbers in shield cricket the last four seasons.

18/19 currently 24 wickets @ 20.45, currently second place
17/18 51 wickets @ 21.07, first place
16/17 42 wickets @ 18.97, third place
15/16 36 wickets @ 21.05, fifth place

I agree TDK, his numbers since 16/17 have been Sayers like & we used to all whinge when he wasn't selected. Bloke deserves his call up.

Siddle is in the squad also, this surprised me though.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Think they named 14, Siddle in there too.

Would think Tremain and Siddle miss out, and either Harris or Handscomb is 12th man.

I'm starting to think Siddle has the same photos as the Marsh boys.

Are there any Aussie supporters at the G tonight? Massive Indian contingent. Will be interesting to see the crowd and mix at the Adelaide test. The Beyond India crew might have to bring in a couple of extra vans.

11 overs.. this format becomes more and more of a joke - why can’t they just play extra half hour and finish the 20 if they can?

Interesting debate on SEN this morning in regards to the test squad. In the last SS game before the test starts apparently Finch will bat 5 for the Vics despite possibly opening in the test a few days later.
Some were saying the Australian coaching staff should demand Finch opens in the Shield game and that Australia comes first whilst others argued that the Vics are there to win the SS and should bat Finch wherever they want.
Where do most of you guys stand?
I’m firmly in the Australia comes first party and Finch has to open in the SS

He's got to open in shield cricket, Australia should always come first but it is hard as Dean and Harris have formed a good, reliable opening partnership for the Vics

Rain in Brisbane and now tonight in Melbourne ends the match, not ideal. Australia probably lucky to get away with a draw.

Absolutely Finch should open.

And Siddle should open too......not the bowling, but his retirement package.

I'm in the opposite camp and think Victoria should bat him wherever they think he's most likely to help them win the match. He's representing the VCA in a first class match. As important as Australia winning test matches is, there is an even higher principle here IMO.

Having said that, I doubt in this case it'd stuff Victoria up too much if he opens and everyone else moves down.

Dean has been in terrible form so far this season, he can drop down for Finch.

I can't stand Travis Dean think he is a stinker of a cricketer. Get rid of him so Finch can open I agree.

Although if Langer said Head was to bat at 6 for Aus & made the Redbacks bat him there we would probably be annoyed.

You shouldn’t be in the Australian team as a batsmen if
You are not batting in the top 5 for your state.
