Central have signed former Glenelg and Adelaide University ruckman Damon Robinson, brother of one of my students.
Cheers.

Long gone are the days of SANFL Clubs being guaranteed to get a couple of years out of retiring AFL players / SANFL ex juniors.

Going to have a kick with his brother at his junior club, I'd think that's great for the game and the GSFL region.

I understand South would welcome him with open arms but at 32, having retired from the AFL after so many injuries, can't really blame him for wanting a genuine kick and a catch with little commitment.

Definitely can’t blame him just pointing out i believe the landscape has well and truly changed.

Shows the calibre of some of our juniors (plus Darcy) coming through the system; positive signs for our future, considering the problems we had previously had in junior grades.

Did he only play reserves?
Do any of the Glenelg supporters know much about him?

Aged 23, only reserves games so far but Damon was named on Glenelg's extended interchange late last season. Norwood were also having a look at him but he chose to come to the Ponderosa, for which i am glad.

Or less competition given Norwood already have Dawe, Baulderstone, Surman, Miller and Crauford

I hope that this isn't off topic nor a cheap shot or bragging but have Norwood decided to boost their big man stocks with Miller and Crauford given that was one area North dominated in the Grand Final.
As a North supporter I was surprised to say the least that Norwood only went into the Grand Final with Baulderstone and Dawe as talls compared to North's Sweet, Barns and Harvey as legitimate talls and Tanner Smith and Ramsey as key position talls. All five players named had good games whereas Baulderstone held his own without absolutely dominating and Dawe, who I have always rated, had a poor game by his standards. I am almost certain that Norwood would have played Surman if they had their time over again.

I don't know for sure RIG, but I suspect that everything you've said is probably on the money. Cotton has come under fire among supporters for not selecting Surman (fair enough, it comes with the territory), but in his defence Luke hadn't done anywhere near enough to command selection, and his relatively small forward line had gotten the job done for most of the year so I guess he backed them in. North's talls certainly dominated us on the day, but I think our key backmen have to accept most of the blame for that. First time I saw Sweet was late in the minor round at the Parade and I thought at the time he looked a likely type - Hope he goes OK in the AFL because I reckon he has a bit to work with.

Darn, that is a big loss. Luke has been a great servant of the club, a player we will miss greatly. Thanks for the wonderful memories, Luke.
