Another disgusting dismissal. It’s a pity our batters have the attention span of a house fly.

Forget about attention span, just an incredibly dumb shot, particularly given the circumstances.

As long as they dont bat into the 5th day they will win. No chance of a draw

Fine by me, Aus hang on today for a bit they may well bat into day 5.
edit-they being India

I had been dubious, at best, about Tim Paine's position in the Australian team. I thought Wade was the obvious replacement in the 'keepers role, this though would have made the role of captain a raffle at best.

Not that long ago he was barely a mainstay for Tasmania let alone captaining his country and, obviously, with the loss of Smith and Warner the position was up for grabs and someone with a good head on their shoulders probably ahead of form or other wise, was required. Paine is that man.

I heard him in an interview on the weekend talking about how he has focused the team on once again being grateful to play for their country, accepting it's an honor and something that shouldn't be taken for granted.

With his actions at the end of the drawn test in the UAE ( where he tempered celebrations from the dressing room as it was only a draw ) and some of the things I've heard him say I reckon the side is in good hands with Paine in charge.

His stay may only be brief as Carey will be pushing for a spot long term and Head looks like he could be the heir apparent in the not too distant future, (unless they once again allow Smith to be the skipper ) but Paine may just go down as one of the better leaders this side has had when history looks back upon him.

If only our top order showed as much grit and determination as Carey does in getting on the red tins, we might have been a chance in grounding out this total.
