We don’t deserve to feel shattered - weren’t in a winning position for most of the game, really rather impressive and proud to take the game as deep as we did - wheels could’ve easily fallen off when Head went early.

Pretty good finish to the test match (result aside), certainly got exciting.

Cracking test match, great win by India, huge for them, esp with little Kohli influence.

Full credit to the bowling group. They kept us in the match with their efforts with the ball, and fared better than the bats to almost bring it home.

Average for the top six in second innings... 133 @ 22
Average for Tim Paine and the bowlers in the second dig,,, 148 @ 30

Good to see Virat getting a little anxious there!

Clearly our worst Top Six since forever. No one who is a genuine Test bat with Marsh and Khawaja the closest and Travis a good prospect of the future. But the other 3 are just not up to it.
Renshaw again failed to stick his hand up this week, and bullying a Grade Cricket attack isn't going to get him a call-up. Mitch Marsh also failed to impress, whilst Stoinis again shows he is a better all-rounder option if the selectors choose that path.
So as bad as this Top Six is there will be no changes this week.... but at the very least, surely Finch drops down the list for his last Test ever.

Drop Finch, open with Khawaja, bat Carey at 6, Head to 5 the rest move up one.

Agreed, no way they would have over turned the Finch decision and, from front on, the ball deviates sideways at the glove. I think he got some glove on it, he did too.

Uzzie is the only one not playing for his spot in the team, have we ever had a top 6 so uncertain?

Our biggest partnership for the match was 50.

Finch out for Renshaw, if we're going to bleed at least make it with a kid who has a future.

Carey only comes in for Paine. Can't be picked as a top 6 bat with his record.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Agree

Most people can handle losing if their is some light at the end of the tunnel.

At present that light is extremly difficult to see you

Exactly the same thing happened today and got reversed -

Ashwin to Cummins, no run, given out caught at short leg! Cummins reviews. This missed the footmark, he thrust pad and bat at it it came off pad bounced up and went to short leg. It bounced off the flap of the pad and maybe onto the wrist. There's nothing on the hot spot in terms of a spot on the glove. Snicko not helping the third umpire either. Third umpire recommends the decision is Not Out and overturned due to nothing on snicko or hot spot! Cummins survives.

How is it that Kohli is allowed to jump and down and carry on like he did when we lost. Yet if we do it we cop criticism over it.

Well as you blokes have posted above the bowlers certainly did their part, with ball and bat so hats off to them, carried us into a position to scare India enough. Batsman obviously need to pull their f**king fingers out. Fought hard and almost got the job done which is a positive but we'll win f**k all if our batsman don't step up. The top six will get another chance in the second test and if 2-4 of them fail again there needs to be some change in the order or the personnel.

Few things to take out of this game .
Umpires not calling no balls
Terrible shots by both sides top orders gifting catching practice
Starc looked underdone (hopefully better for the run )
australian extras basically dicide the game
Good fight from Aussies today
Khloi still a tosser

Moving to Perth thoughts are
Finch or handscome make way for m marsh or stonis will need an extra bowler I feel
Wait on paines finger (Carey to debut if it doesn't come up goat to skipper )
Need our top order to stand up and some one go big

My 11
Harris
Uzi
S marsh
Finch
Head
M marsh / stonis
Paine/Carey
Cummings
Starc
Lyon
Hazelwood
