Yep, I don't think he'll be back there any time soon, I thought it was an odd affiliation and wasn't going to be long-lived.

Yeah true I guess, Saksena's innings was far better than Morans though lol.. he's certainly an interesting batsman - and we missed an opportunity when he was on one or two that should've been taken. Did hit a nice 6 over over though haha and can field, but his batting in general was well umm whirlwind.

Missed a trick with Carls brother and Channa, probably should've brought them back earlier and not bowled Saksena and myself - think NP scored about 60 in 9 overs lol.

Dave is a good enough sort but geez he gets frazzled easily. Had a pretty good game overall just that one decision and a couple of "dead ball" calls that really was only downside.

As for McMinn, 3/24 off 8 was better than 3/17 off 4.3 plus he bowled an opener who'd faced 60+ balls, a number 3 and LB'd someone for a goldie when he'd been averaging 78 prior to the weekend, a pair of ducks has kicked that average fair in the nuts.

Yeah, hard for me to not like him, he loves me, I remember the first time he umpired one of my games, he was so excited when I went out to bat, he said "I've been waiting to get a Smithfield game so I can see you get going, you are going to hit a few sixes today aren't you?"

I said "Yeah mate, keep that finger in your pocket and we'll see how things go"

First ball I faced it went sailing over his head and landed on the running track at Mofflin, he was smiling like a Pakistani, as he hoisted his arms.

Shit, that's a fair effort, I was tossing up between the Ritzema brothers, sure as hell wasn't expecting a Hut lad to be up there.

Heres a hypothetical for you lads and im sure youll agree with me, if a side gets smashed outright do you think anyone from that team should get votes? its a big no from me, i dont care how many runs or wickets the guy gets

There's 3 votes to distribute and it's not his fault that his team mates are duds, would be extremely difficult to poll but I wouldn't draw a line completely through everyone.

Football I don’t think they should get any votes in a massive loss, Cricket is a little different - what if wickets are shared 2/3 each and all the batsmen make 15-20 but on the losing side you get a D’Antonio performance of 8 wickets.. or a guy makes 100 out of a team total of say 120.

A costly weekend for Virginia, could be excused for their loss to Westies but the Gardens loss could really hurt, especially when there's two spots left in the 4 with 3 teams vying for them.

Grade 2 looks like 3 have made it to the pontoon already, throw a blanket over the rest, ATCO are probably the weakest out of the rest but can still pull off a result here and there.
Seems to be a real lack of venom in the bowling in Grade 2 this season with the top 3 excluded.

Clean Hitters

Postby Pistol - NEKCC » Tue Dec 18, 2018 10:38 am

Our boys got a good win against Pines on Sunday but F**K me! Freeman can hit a ball! Him and Owen from Smithfield have to be a couple of the cleanest hitters going around. No surprise they are out in front for Div 2 leading run scorers

Think you could add yourself and Leonard to that list.

Actually little surprised Freeman batted Sunday - his finger didn't look good Saturday when he copped one on the end.

Very very good win for NEK.

On Sunday few of the lads from the Royals and Smithfield were talking about how clean Leonard hits the ball.

Yep, the guy is a beast! I think the bat he uses is about 40 pound! (in all honesty it's like 4.6 or something stupid) I can't even pick the thing up, start off playing a pull shot and end up playing a sweep shot

Legend has it, he was walking through an enchanted forest as a young lad, stumbled across a magical English Willow tree... Apparently he bear hugged it and ripped the f*cker straight out of the ground, roots and all and carved his bat out of it.
