Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go

Went out yesterday.
I just had some sort of brain failure on the 1st (10th) thinking it was Par 4 and not Par 5.
Was alongside the green for 4 and figured im not getting up and down, picked up, moved on...
And thats what I did all day.
Holed a lengthy birdie putt on 15, but as soon as I hit it, i called 'rubbish'....to my surprise it dropped...

On 18, on in 2, hit a good lag, but as scoring wasnt a focus, no need to tap in for par.
Still had 23 points  and didnt finish last, allah help those fellow hackers

Drove the ball beautifully for the most part.
Iron play was solid.
Putting was good for me.

I stuffed up on 1st hole, thought it was par 4 for some reason when its a Par 5. So when i was off the side of green caught up in the weeds, I figured, I aint getting up and down for 6 here...so picked up and moved along.

A few exits from the bag for tomorrow.
Going with my
Baffler
4 hybrid
6,7,9 irons
56 & sandy
Putter

Last week hit 3 6irons from tee to green on the par 5 14th which is roughly 500m. I think we have too many options and it mentally **** us

Royal Adelaide yesterday......37 points which I thought was solid for a course rating of 130.

$14 imperial pint mugs went down nicely too.

Going back next month for another crack.

Very well played!!

Wont be able to get out there next month, think the Open days are all on Mondays??
But will definitely be putting the Open days in the diary if they come up again on a Sunday.

Was it a full field?

I am by my own admission the modern day Grinch, Its a fantastic time for the kids I love watching there faces opening presents but that's about the extent of my Christmas enjoyment therefore its plenty of Golf.

If they say a week is a long time in footy terms its a frigging eternity in golf!

Thursday- Links lady bay

Just a practise round with my step dad (He is off 34) so be basically gets 2 shots every hole and I only get the 14 hardest down there, anyway I hit them very well, I didn't putt all that well but finished with 31 points and was pretty happy with that.

Friday- Links lady bay again

Again just a practice round but played with my step dad again but this time also the neighbours both very good golfers (7 and 11) my all round game was really good, Drove the ball well, Mid/Low irons were fantastic and the short game was around the mark, scored on every hole for 38 points very happy leading in to the Saturday comp.

Saturday- Links Lady Bay Stableford.

Wow I was disgustingly bad, 1st Tee nailed a drive down the middle, 9iron up to the front of the green up and down for 2 points, yep I'm thinking nice start, then well I was 9 points after 9 holes! Had a good think about things told myself slow everything down and reset, sure enough on the 10th nailed a drive up the right hand side 7 Iron on the front tear of the green, 2 putts bang 4 for 3 I'm back. It turns out I wasn't, and came in with 13 points for 22 points  I was extremely hung over but they certainly isn't an excuse.

Sunday- Links Lady Bay

Just played a quick 9 to assure myself yesterday was a one off, it wasn't 9 holes 12 points Clubs are nearly on Gumtree.

Monday- Murray Bridge Stableford comp

One last game before they go on Gumtree and it turns out I'm keeping my clubs  I had to play off 11 due to the slope rating but played really well. I scrubbed 1 par 3 (6th I think) where I hit in a deep bunker but apart from that went very well I was really happy 39 points including a birdie 3 on the second toughest hole (16th) I played in a group with a bloke off 17 he scrubbed the first and the 16th and finished with 42 points  Jesus he hit the ball well.

Playing Lady bay again Thursday and Friday I'm not letting that course beat me.....

I was getting lessons last this year but that nuisance called 'Work' got in the way.

I am having lessons with a gentleman named Simon MacWhirter at the end of January then a couple towards the end of February to straighten me up. Simon comes highly recommended by a few single figure golfers I know.

Once he straightens my swing up, I will certainly be looking in to getting some fitted clubs. I just didn't want to get fitted clubs for my swing and then I get my swing totally changed and it was a total waste.
